Re: CH food
Oh Kerren! I couldn't stand the bread and dripping, just the thought of it now makes me feel sick!

Re: School Needlework
I've replaced three concealed zips in skirts/trousers in recent months. They don't seem to last long and it's not because I'm bursting out of my clothes! I used to make a lot of my clothes in the 70's and curtains until fairly recently but it's not worth it now. However, I sometimes alter clothes fo...

Re: Holly Walsh
Had she, Mary? This is indeed perplexing news. You were a year younger than I! SWMNBN was still in power when I left. I know, I really KNOW that her retirement would have caused rejoicing and a tremendous sense of liberation and I would have been right in there, dancing in the Square. Could she hav...

Yes, we did use hangers. I've still got mine! Wooden with my name and number written on it. I'm not sure it was school issue, I have a vague feeling that I brought it to school from home.Katharine wrote:I think we had hangers - with our numbers on of course!

Re: Leavers and fees
All Old Blues should make a standing order to CH when they first start earning and review it annually. A lot of their earning power is due to their education at CH. Initially £5 a month may be reasonable, and is unlikely to bankrupt anyone. My earning power has absolutely nothing to do with CH, wh...

Re: Are we alone?
I don't think the teaching of latin and/or greek happens much these days. Also I don't believe that is a measure of a good school. Modern european languages or even arabic are far more useful. It used to be said that Latin was needed for medicine, pharmacy and other allied professions. It wasn't rea...

Re: Are we alone?
I'm probably older than you dinahcat. I understand that the school is different now and has been for sometime but I would never have considered sending my son there. I have many good memories, mostly of friendships, but the school was a complete disappointment and nowhere near a good school academic...

Re: Are we alone?
That's a shame . I imagine that even if they didn't appreciate themselves they could see the good it did for so many other people . Well, yes, in an ideal world; but I believe that we had/have to deal with any negative experiences and memories, and come out the other side healthy and content, befor...
