Re: Freaky in the FT
The interest rate is irrelevant if consumers are not in the mood". A first for Freaky and maybe for CH. It questions the Always nice for a journo to be a published journo. But nothing new here. Thatcher was railroaded into the ERM by Lawson and Howe and look what a disaster that was. "You...

Probably a load of tosh.
I'll believe it when I read it in the mainstream press.

Re: Band in Lord Mayor`s Show today
Very good coverage today on BBC1.
They didn't get a mention but it showed the Band wheeling past the Bank of England and the programme finished with the Lord Mayor tipping his tricorn as they marched past to Sussex by the Sea.

Re: Roger Allam in Radio Times
Thanks for the links. I wonder which teacher he was referring to? The convicted abusers teaching during Roger Allam's time were: Peter Burr, Peter Webb and Roger Martin. Roger Martin was the most generally popular of those three so, if I was a gambling man, I would surmise Martin is the teacher ref...

ROME — A U.N. agency is warning that worsening drought in Afghanistan threatens the livelihoods of more than 7 million people. The Rome-based Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Saturday issued an appeal for humanitarian assistance. Adding to the plight of what the agency termed “severe droug...

Re: What Doesn't Happen At CH These Days?
Parents should be able to spend their money as they see fit. A lot choose to prioritise a private education over holidays in Spain. In France, the middle classes tend to drive old bangers(no road tax for cars over 15 years old) and instead spend their money on education. Over here, the chavs and the...

Some provocative letters in today's Observer. I'm sure Rockfreak is familiar with the tome under discussion, but what do the ladies think? Observer letters Letters: boarding schools are no longer repressive Whether or not you approve of private education, today’s independent schools are a far cry fr...

Re: Ben Breakwell convicted of abuse
....and what's this got to do with Ben Breakwell...? Was Breakwell's offending his nature exclusively, or was it nurtured by contacts and experiences as a pupil, or what is simply due to the age of consent? What was Breakwell like? Did anyone know him? (I know you do not want to say, Pe.A). What di...

Re: Ben Breakwell convicted of abuse
What has the age of consent got to do with this thread? Breakwell was a teacher and it's irrelevant and quite rightly so. And trying to argue that he might not be a paedophile is appalling. Again, i didn't actually say that - read the last paragraph of that post. I was replying to the comment you m...

Re: Ben Breakwell convicted of abuse
Will Pe. A float? Does he weigh more than a duck? Just don't mention the old blue, convicted predator paedophile, Breakwell...right? Not sure where you get that from. My concern is the apparent assumption he 'learned his trade' at CH and, more importantly, the ambiguous questioning of Pe. A's and o...

Re: Did anyone know?
Well if not about Dobbie, it is my strong understanding that Mr Reid knew about another inappropriate teacher-student relationship that went on when he was at the school during the 90s that has not to my knowledge been aired at all, although I know for a fact it was known about by the SMT of the sc...
