Re: Management knowledge of the Husband/Dobbie cases
In those days nasty behaviour was normalised. I hope the arrival of the girls has made it a kinder place and such behaviour is no longer accepted. In my day if someone was down, you kicked them. It was not a place for the weak and vulnerable. I remember Fleming masqueraded as a photographer and use ...

Golfer: Waiting is a sound suggestion but in the meantime perhaps you should refrain from the Befehl ist Befehl defense you mounted the other day for the assistant chaplain and the corporate style "management knowledge" try-on which insults the victims and irritates those of us who sympat...

Re: A day by the seaside (aka Husband's folly)
Apologist for staff? I have very few friends from the CH staff - or anywhere, actually. However I did know several of those convicted so I do share a desire to understand what the hell happened. I can vouch for TDA being a man of utmost honesty and integrity who would have been horrified had he bee...

Re: Transcripts
Very depressing reading. Re: sentencing, hopefully this judge will have got the knack of it before she next meets Dobbie and Karim. Re: CH response when reporting abuse - experience of others?
I would cut the school out and go straight to the police. I can't emphasise that strongly enough. If anyone is concerned I am happy to see whether we can establish a line of communication and identify the right officers to go to. Victims should make contact with the police themselves independently....

Re: CH response when reporting abuse - experience of others?
I would also be very surprised if this forum is not being monitored by other abusers who have not yet been unmasked.
So Keep 'em peeled

Re: CH response when reporting abuse - experience of others?
I'd also like to add, PLEASE don't let the poor experience above prevent anyone from coming forward if you've something to report - you will be listened to by others, and hopefully you can see that the groundswell of opinion is one of support. These things HAVE to be exposed, particularly where oth...

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse
The explanation for what its worth is that CH was very hierarchical and you did as you were told.
That in no way excuses or justifies the shameful inaction of anyone, however junior
