ALMOST THE SAME NAME BUT NOT QUITE

DavebytheSea wrote:There is a Christ's Hospital hospital in the USA
There are, indeed, a number of hospitals in the USA with similar sounding names to ours, but they are actually called "CHRIST HOSPITAL" i.e., without the apostrophe S.

I'm afraid all this smacks of what I came across many times in my days with Local Government. It had to be seen to be fair to advertise ALL vacant posts, internally and externally, (if you'll pardon the expression !) It was all very academic really, because everyone 'in the know', knew who'd got th...

Thank you for bringing this matter to the attention of the Forum, and for inviting comment, but if you seriously want an answer, rather than speculation, would it not be appropriate to ask those who posted the ad, and those responsible for the CH Website? A very reasonable question. In fact, I have...

Maybe foureyes is Southern in Disguise In order to scotch any possible rumours, although I live in southern England, I am definitely not to be confused with Peter Southern. As regards my complaint, it is this. I have now discovered that the vacancy notice was posted in the Sunday Times and The Time...

Who is "Foureyes"? I am an Old Blue and a pensioner ("loafer" was meant as a joke but has obviously mis-fired). I have no hidden agenda and, as far as I know, it is perfectly permissible for someone to particpiate on the Forum without giving their name - perhaps the organiser wil...

Mrs C I agree that it has been known for some time that the present Clerk is leaving. However, as I am sure you well know, the business of job advertisements and applications is a very formal one, and an applicant would be well-advised not to submit his/her application until they have seen the adver...

CLERK OF CHRIST'S HOSPITAL

Old Blues may wish to note that the job advertisement for a new Clerk for the Foundation (ie, the Counting House) was posted on the CH Website on Tuesday 23 January for response by Monday 29 January . To give old Blues just four working day's notice for what to us is a very important post seems a di...

BADGES

SWORD
Although I cannot see it myself, I accept that there may be a silver sword on those badges. Nevertheless, this does not invalidate my original point, which is that the sword should be RED. Every other CH or City of London badge has a RED sword. I rest my case.

BADGES

Mrs C
Looking at the pics of the tie-slide and stick-pin it strikes me that the badge is incorrect, since the upright RED sword is missing from the top left quarter!! Perhaps, that is why they did not sell??

SURPRISED

sejintenej I can see exactly why you did that little bit of investigation, but I find it rather worrying that you can discover so much in just "ten minutes" of electronic delving. I am NOT criticising you, only commenting on the facilities now available to those who know how to use the Int...
