It never happened in the 90's - I think it has only been reintroduced in the last 5 years or so. I think it still existed in the early 90s as I seem to remember being forced to sing (which I can't do) some annoying tunes. Those awful rehearsals in house being watched over by power-hungry Grecians ....

Hi Eloise As I said, I will talk to Adrian after this week....... It might be very helpful that you can get suitable arrangements. Kerren my message wasn't meant quite as abruptly as it probably sounded, I was really replying to Richard. unless there were going to be several woodwind players it wul...

Why is there a restriction to brass, do we know of a reason why there is this limitation imposed? This is really a question for Adrian Bawtree, as he is looking after that side of things. However, if I were to hazard a guess I would say that the various arrangements for brass accompaniment are alre...

is there any particular reason why the music is just brass? surely we'd get a bigger group if it included woodwind too i.e. have a mini concert band :) ?

I remember my housemaster getting suspicious of us taking out certain round numbers from pocket money on a Wednesday or Saturday lunchtime. If they ever spotted a £3.50 (going rate for a quarter of vodka) you could be sure they would keep an eye on you that night. The same applied for £2 (the the...

my problem seems to be pitching the notes. I'm much better when singing next to a confident (in tune!) singer. I do listen very carefully as I do alot of chamber playing, which is why I am so painfully aware of how badly I sing. I'll keep persevering with the singing in private when no-one's listeni...

I can't sing at all, which I find hugely frustrating. I know I'm not in tune, or I'm singing the wrong notes as I can hear it. And when I play the bassoon I can tell then if I'm out of tune etc, so I'm certainly not tone deaf. it made passing music exams very difficult as I always failed the aural t...

I've had that heating on in the summer. it's ridiculous. I don't understand why they can't have air con in the buses. they were thinking of painting the bus roofs white to reflect the sun ... high tech solutions for TfL. Isn't the Victoria Line at Victoria station meant to be cooler as they've got w...

pity me on the tube every morning! the buses aren't much better either (the few tiny open windows make no difference).

it is stifling in town today.
