Re: laptops
As a teacher of IT, in a secondary school, and a mum of a teenage boy I'd just like to counsel ALL parents that your children WILL access unsuitable material on the internet, if they can. Or at the very least they will see others accessing it. I agree that we have to educate our own children but 'ni...

Re: Lincolnshire Donation Governor
I suspect it might be down to individual governors. Some might want to offer more individual support in whatever way they like to the family they have 'chosen'. Perhaps, Lippizaner, as you say your governor's first choice didn't make the grade but they wanted to present someone this year and so pick...

Re: Lincolnshire Donation Governor
I am still not exactly sure why someone who is presented should be guaranteed a place over others if this is not the case? My understanding is that the presented child has gone through some 'extra' selection for suitability for CH, usually through meeting and being interviewed by prospective govern...

Re: Grecians' Path
My DS - just about to go into UF - thinks the rule stands.
Deps and Grecians only is how he understands the rule.
I know when I go down there he tells me off if I walk on the Grecians Path.

Likewise SAS! I am resigned to the fact that I will always have a love-hate relationship with CH. Love because it IS the right place for DS, Hate because it takes DS away from me. Love, love, love having him home -washing and all! I think I probably illustrate very well that CH is, and should be, ab...

Re: Beating retreat, end of term.
As long as your child is organised enough to be ready at 2 then yes, you can get packed - this is what we try to do so we can be off once it's finished.
To all those attending their first Beat Retreat - stand by and prepare to be seriously impressed by the talent of the band!!

I suggest you talk to one of the Matrons. There is a lost property office somewhere but if something is clearly labelled then it usually wends its way back to House.
Matrons will be able to advise.

Re: Not finding it difficult
I am REALLY looking forward to be a bit of peace and quiet as my son is as full on as her daughter. Yippee! I think we should all agree that everyone is different. I have made a big personal sacrifice sending my DS to CH - it is the right place for him and it would have been selfish of me to keep h...

Re: Not finding it difficult
I posted before about still finding it difficult.
I just want to clarify that this does not mean that I am sitting around moping. I've got a happy life and don't mope. I just miss my son, that's all.

Re: Girls' cricket?
I suspect that for every girl who has expressed an interest in cricket, there might well be a boy who is bored to tears by it and, given a choice, would much rather be out on the tennis courts. Hear, hear! I, for one, know of a young man who would gladly swap his place on cricket for doing somethin...

Re: Scouts
My DS went a couple of times. He says he would have chosen it regularly if he could have done instead of one of his sports.

Re: Scouts
I agree with Pinkhebe, it is a real shame that is has been an active. The younger students who Scouts need to get in have to do 2 sports actives a week leaving little choice for other things. I think it would be better if Scouts could have been instead of one of the sports actives.

Re: It's still tough
Great story! I remember that we did ask to bring home his socks and breeches and shirt one end of term as he wanted to go into his old school in his new uniform. School laundry - no problems for us so far ( hope that's not speaking too soon) - and we are nearly at the end of 3 years. GCSE choices - ...
