Re: Sussex By The Sea
Thank you for posting that. It has always given me goosebumps, but especially now as it will always be associated in my mind with Kerren.

Re: Tuck shop
Aaaagh! Why? Is nothing sacred? Is this too a financial decision? Will it become less 'personal' and friendly? Will life ever be the same again?

Re: THE FUTURE OF CH
That is precisely the point - are there any checks and balances? The financial system seems to have become so complicated that many parents do not understand it and seem to get no reply when they query unexpected rises in their parental contribution. It was not my intention to complain about the pro...

Re: Shrove Tuesday Plays
Pardon me while I have another little burst of reminiscence -'Three little saints who all unwary come from a Roman seminary, freed from from its genius tutelary, three little saints from Rome, three little saints from Rome'!!

Re: THE FUTURE OF CH
It started with local day pupils who would bring in much needed income without taking up boarding accommodation; that was the thin end of the wedge. Now it has spread to wealthy fee-paying pupils, even overseas pupils who are presumably taking up boarding places, leaving fewer places for the needy c...

Re: THE FUTURE OF CH
Fitzadou, where have you been? Some of us have been expressing similar opinions on this forum for quite some time now, apparently without the Headmaster or powers-that-be paying any attention to our thoughts!!

Re: Shrove Tuesday Plays
Thank goodness for that, Angela! Actually, Katharine, I do remember 1066 and all that - in particular, to the tune of Three Little Maids from School, we did Three Little Saints from Rome, in which you and I were two of the saints 'Three saints from Rome came over the hill; if they hadn't left Rome t...

Re: Shrove Tuesday Plays
I don't remember this particular play, although I do recognise many of the names. Certainly the Dram Soc did a number of other plays whose names also escape me. In those days I was totally uninterested in anything to do with acting. Ironic then that both my daughters grew up to work in the theatre (...

Re: Eddie Goncalves (Gonk)
The court has this morning ruled 100% in favour of Ed's family. The squatters are to be out in 14 days or the bailliffs move in. Also to pay full rent arrears plus costs - a four figure sum. It looks as though the end of that part of the saga is finally in sight.

Re: Eddie Goncalves (Gonk)
All is not quite right yet. They still have to regain access to their own home by getting the eviction of the so-called tenants who have effectively been squatting rent-free. At the moment the family are technically homeless and living on the goodwill of good friends. I cannot understand the mentali...

Re: Barnes Wallis
Yes, I realise that! My point was that by leaving out the dog, they presumably had to also cut any mention of the codewords for the breaking of the various dams, one of which was the dog's name. Anyway, I see that on BBC2 tomorrow at 7.00pm there is a programme called The Dambusters: 70 years On, an...

Re: Barnes Wallis
So what did they use for the codeword which was the name of the dog?
