Yes, Jack - The Tube was dirty, damp, dank and wet in the winter, hence fairly safe from Masters.. The drying room had all the hot pipes running through it for the central heating. (Central Heating ? That's a joke in its self !) I understand from a recent visit that the tube is sealed and out of bou...

Re: What about the 'trough'

Lots of talk about showers but in my first few years I seem to remember we had a 'trough' which would take about six people (usually all covered in mud) all scrunched up in a long line. No swimming costumes then. I do remember Chris Miller taking a photograph to aid the publicity to raise the funds...

Re: Scandal

Come on ladies, I am sure we know some stuff from Hertford. There was the time when one of the prefects was going back to the flat late at night and heard splashes and shouts coming from the pool. Thinking some folk from the town had got in (it was next to the back gate) she went to investigate. Th...

I'm pretty sure it was only in the hot summer season.

Wouldn't mind it one bit if it was re-introduced now, especially in MY old house !

I'd check the towels for dampness, any day !

Another question - when these teachers get the push on account of their wandering digits are they still the subject of a 'farewell' bit in the Blue , to make it look as if they have left under normal circumstances? Perhaps the illustrious John H. might consider re-producing, (if you'll pardon the e...

Ron "Nog" or "Osram" Lorimer was my housemaster in Mid A. He was indeed involved with the RAF section of the CCF (along with "Rocker" Rae(y) I believe) he also helped out with the scouts. That would be Bob Rae. Maths teacher and Dep. Housemaster in Coleridge B in aroun...

Yes, the site is a bit of a mess, isn't it?

We used to get a couple of films a term in Big School. Sure they were all in black and white. Can't remember any of the titles, but seem to remember Buster Keaton putting in a 'guest-appearance'................................ Did your films have that new-fangled sound as well? Yes Richard, ...

One male member of staff was if not openly then obviously gay, the other was a surprise. I suppose that being openly gay might still be a problem for a member of staff - not sure how things are these days. Interesting point to ponder, Richard. In these days of P.C. and equal rights, I think you'll ...

Well I must say that the West Sussex County Times website is one of the worst news sites I've ever come across, but I managed to find the article, or at least a stub of it: clicketty Tim. Not exactly a mind-blowing journalistic article, is it Tim? Time for a couple more pints in the 'Shovel', then ...

There was an article about Woodworm in this week's West Sussex County Times as well. If anyone's got a copy and could scan it in, or send it to me, would be good to get it posted on here, and/or in the news on the CHA website. Probably good content for "The Old Blue" too? J Down to you, R...

'Twas always the 'drying-room' under Coleridge in the Tube for me !.

The dank musty smell of rugby kit always masked the smell of the dreaded weed, and not too far to walk, either !

(That damn echo's back !! )
