Re: James-Jacques-Joseph Tissot

The painting has been mentioned in The Blue from time to time. Apparently there was a detailed account of it in the September 1963 edition (don't have a copy, unfortunately). Apparently the manuscript is in Brunel University Library, Jo. Stephen Rose used extracts from it in The Intellectual Life of the British Working Class (Yale University Press, 2001).

Death of John Ddungu

I very much regret to say that John Ddungu (CH 05-07) was found dead in his room at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, on 27 February. His mother pays tribute to him in this press report: http://www.thisiscroydontoday.co.uk/latestnews/Exclusive-Gifted-South-Norwood-student-dead-bed/article-749687-detail/ar...

Memorial service for Patrick Cullen

Sadly Patrick Cullen (Horsham Staff 54-87) , one of the most amiable teachers at CH in my day, died in January aged 81. Reportedly there will be no memorial service at CH, but there will be one, to which everyone is welcome, on Saturday 18 April at 2.30pm in the parish church at East Knoyle, Wilts. ...

Jeremiah Duggan petition

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I haven't been able to find any references to it, and time is now short: Last week saw the fifth anniversary of the deeply troubling death of Jerry Duggan (ThA 92-99) , so often examined in the pages of The Blue and The Old Blue over the past five years....

It's Old Blue Night on Channel 4

At 8pm Mark Thomas (ColB 74-81) exposes the misdeeds of Coca-Cola, and at 9pm there's a repeat of the rather good Time Team Special on the Gothic architect and designer Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (Non-Foundationer 1820s).
