Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
My bad. Apologies! And I thought I was treading so carefully too. Delete anything I've written that needs to be removed. And I'll log off so I can't post anything!

Re: Do You Tell People That You Went To Public School?
If pressed I might say I went to boarding school depending who I'm talking to and whether I want to answer questions about it, but I've never thought of it as a 'public school' so I wouldn't use those words.

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
Very little press coverage this time around. I was hoping that the press would name the teacher the victim confided in. I’m interested to know whether it’s a familiar name from previous trials. Press might cover it once the verdict and sentencing are done? It's all very close to the publication of ...

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
Once the jury has reached a verdict, and if he's found guilty, does anyone know how long until a sentence is handed down? Last year's cases are to be considered in the sentencing as well.

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
Twice! 1986 and 1987. I’m not sure I would have paid much, if any attention, as a young teen. I generally remember the sermons being mind numbingly dull, but likely many of them would interest (or offend) me as an adult. I do remember Simon Weston speaking but no other standouts. Now it's been ment...

Re: Karim's sentence hearing
Very much. Thank you for such a comprehensive reply. I had wondered whether it was a combination of the number of victims + length of offending that was the differentiating factor between the two men.

Re: Karim's sentence hearing
Can one of the forum's legal eagles explain why there has been a gap between Karim's verdict and sentencing when Husband's was fairly soon after his conviction?

Re: Dr Ken Little
No house / teaching staff gave a rats arse. I've written elsewhere about reporting Rick's mental state to house staff and getting the brush off. Maybe I should have been more persistent and tried elsewhere but I didn't to my continuing regret. I'm sorry you too felt unsupported, Scazza. J.R., I'm n...

Re: Will Dobbie be defrocked?
People don't always abide by the law of the land. The church is about forgiveness and once the sentence has been served is the slate clean? DBS checks should now show up his conviction but people can be manipulative and not accepting of reality.

Dr Ken Little
After Rick Slater died in 1990, a man called Dr Ken Little was brought in to assist those who needed it, as the school psychologist. I tried to contact him last summer to pass on some family news. I tried an old email address, several months later a reply from an unnamed person to say he'd died. I r...

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/anglican-church-could-bring-back-the-power-to-defrock-priests-because-of-sexual-abuse-of-children-10384247.html This is from 2015. If I understand correctly the permission to officiate can be removed. The synod met recently but I've not seen any report...

Re: Who Knew What?
Didn't Baker oppose the merger which is why he was removed from post and Hansford drafted in to oversee the conjoining of the schools with the headmistress of Hertford?
