Re: Dining Hall & The Verio...April 05 photos

Re: Big School organ, I heard it played a few times while I was there (1998-2005), it was still used now and again and was not totally abandonned. It was used for some headmasters' assemblies amongst other things.

Re: Peele A Summer 2006

Quite frankly I think people finally used their common sense and realised it was a tad OTT to make kids wear full-length thick black housey coats in 20-30 degrees. I started in 1998 and it was perfectly allowed to wear half-housey in warm weather then, I didn't realise this hadn't always been the ca...

Re: Matron memories

What a nice idea for a topic. In my opinion, the matrons are definitely one of the very best aspects about CH. I had some fantastic matrons. One was also my tutor. I have very fond memories of spending hours and hours in matron's office just talking away the afternoon with matron and my friends. In ...

Re: What Sounds & Smells Instantly Transport You Back to CH?

Smell: varnish for wooden floors takes me to CH instantly. The smell of freshly varnished stairs, stairrails and dayroom floors in the boarding houses. Got a whiff of it yesterday!

Re: ATTILLA THE STOCKBROKER

I heard him on Radio 4 a couple of years ago. He was talking about his early life and school years, and although he didn't mention CH by name, it was obvious from his references of uniform, boarding school, Sussex, and marching through London into St. Paul's, that it was CH he was referring to. He s...

Re: Rob Gauntlett RIP

I echo the need to find closure in a service in the Chapel at CH, hoping that the Powers That Be would allow it. Albeit many years older, and female to boot, I would attend if I could. The loss of these two young lives is unbearable. Seconded. Even though I probably wouldn't be able to attend, I wo...

Re: James Atkinson RIP

Rest in peace James. You will be missed by many. I didn't know him as a friend but he was a year younger than me at CH and it is always shocking to lose someone so young. My thoughts are with the family at this unimaginably difficult time.

Re: Rob Gauntlett RIP

What terrible news. Just came across it by chance on the BBC news website; although no names were mentioned at the time, it was unmistakeably Rob. My thoughts are with his nearest and dearest. It won't console them at all of their loss but at least his family are aware how many people are affected b...

I was unclear, sorry - I haven't seen this latest one, I was referring to the archive of them on the internet from about 2003-4-5!

Re: Lousey

Some of it had me rolling around laughing but other bits surprised me and the people (mainly staff) the comments were directed at might be quite shocked and offended. On the whole I think it's very good fun but I definitely agree that the writers should make sure they don't overstep the mark - or wo...

Re: Not sure if this is the place to ask...

Unless the system has changed in the last few years, you won't need anything (like a History GCSE) to do History at A-Level or AS-Level. But maybe it's different for new Dep entrants. Certainly for current pupils, it was not necessary, many people did it...at the end of the LE, you had to choose one...
