Re: All this is incredibly sad

Note to self : never send emails late at night. Graham, I think you know me well enough to know that I tell it as I see it. I guess it is difficult to convince folk that terrible mistakes made in the past will not be repeated, but I do know the rigour and integrity that is now present at the school...

Re: All this is incredibly sad

I have a lot of confidence in Simon Reid and the policies are very reassuring to read. Managing a school of that size and complexity can be no mean feat. I’m certain that if I visited the school now the difference in the welfare and safety of pupils would be indisputable, however I’m not sure that ...

Re: All this is incredibly sad

I really am very heartened by these policies. I couldn't give a fig about the odd spelling mistake or grammatical error. If those are your priorities then go back to your cave. I particularly like the policy on Standards of Pupil Behaviour which states that respect for others and their property mus...

Re: Attitudes to sports

Talking of sport, oldies among us will remember the athletics track, which was dug up some years ago and turned into a carpark. Now, under a revolutionary plan, the carpark is to be dug up and turned into - would you believe? - an athletics track. That's progress. No wonder the school has to keep a...

Re: All this is incredibly sad

For heaven's sake. Bullying isn't like smallpox. It doesn't decline as medical science and progressivity increases. Bullying is a function of leadership; poor leadership lets bullying in. Bullying isn't being outmoded as practices change, it just changes itself. CH in the 80s (that I experienced) w...

How true.
Kind of makes my point clearly about TMF and his Gradgrind view of fact.
Perception? Now there's a thing!

Re: All this is incredibly sad

I believe some people on here are referring solely to the children of staff when they use the term Non-Foundationer. To one poster in particular they appear to have been another focus for resentment and/or envy. I realise there is no pleasing some folk, but unless you can step into someone else's sh...

Re: All this is incredibly sad

You may speculate, TMF, as is your right, but the "gilded cage" was not the case for all staff children I can assure you. Some of the most cruel verbal bullying was meted out to some children of staff.
You can do untold damage with some of your "speculation".

Re: Roger Martin

Thank you. I note that you were at CH for.just five years. May I ask if that was from 11-16 or from 13-18? It is a pity you found that there was a bullying tone to your years there under David Newsome. I found his first (and my last) three years there to have been thankfully free of that element. I ...
