Re: Donation Governors List
I was wondering this too. When I enquired back in Jan I was told by admissions that those eligible would hear by the end of April... I note that someone has already been advised about presentations for 2012 entry, so does anyone know if they let parents know all at the same time or more individually...

That is most reassuring Pinkhebe. Thanks for posting.
Just curious, what are the arrangements/procedures now your DC has been offered a place?

Re: Academic level for entry at 11
Very reassuring Wurzel and Howard H. Thank you. Lippizaner, my DS is also distractable and lacks concentration. His english also lacks somewhat behind his mathematical ability. I have been told, by teachers, that this is quite usual for boys, especially those who may be amongst the younger of their ...

Re: Academic level for entry at 11
Goodness, level 6? I thought Year 6 NC tests only showed results up to 5a? I have no knowledge of the private sector so I'm afraid I don't know if prep school pupils may be at an advantage. I would hope not though as that seems at odd with the CH ethos. I, too, have a DS in Year 5 so also have wheel...

Re: Application advice / mentor please!
After some Googling, here is some info on the CAT test that I was referring to: http://www.gl-assessment.co.uk/education/resources/cat3/cat3.asp#intro My son took them at the end of Year 4 and I was given a separate score for non-verbal reasoning, verbal reasoning and quantitative. The scores are up...

Re: Application advice / mentor please!
Regarding CAT tests: My son does indeed do these at school already (I don't know if this is usual or just our school?) so I know what scores he has but I have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about what the results really mean! I was told in passing by a teacher that they were 'broadly equivalent ...

Re: Application advice / mentor please!
The very best of luck to you too PapaElsie! Look forward to following your progress and having another parent going through the ordeal too. Have you submitted your forms to CH yet? I have ours filled in and am waiting for a copy of my son's birth certificate in the post and I'll be posting it off. R...

Re: Application advice / mentor please!
Hi. I am applying to CH for my daughter. Have the forms here, but am wondering if we should try for a governors presentation? What are the criteria, as it were? To be honest, any advice at all about how to make a successful application (!) would be most welcome. Also, any other single parents out t...

Re: Academic level for entry at 11
Thanks all for your help and suggestions with the application process. Just getting back to completing the form this afternoon... hopefully I'll have it in the post in the next few days! After they've received the form how long do you think until I hear again from CH?

Re: Academic level for entry at 11
Thank you all so very, very much for your replies and PMs. What a credit you all are to CH! It means a great deal that someone has taken the time to reply. Thank you so much. :D This is my first - and will be only - encounter with an independent school so I am feeling a little out of my depth. Bolst...

Re: Academic level for entry at 11
Thank you for your replies; it looks like we could be in with half a chance then. Are some of the methods of entry considered 'easier' than any other then? I had assumed that they would all be competitive and would demand the same high academic standard. I was looking at Wests' Gift places, having r...
