As far as I can remember, the whole house (A+B) formed one team. Not 100% sure though.

Re: The moon landing at CH

I've just realised that "The moon landing at CH" is a rather ambiguous thread title, but I'm sure you know what I mean... I would have been 12 years old when the landing took place, so at the end of my first year, and watched it with others in the front room of John Hall Hatthews an...

Re: Letter to Head Master

Junior: Barnes, Maine, Leigh Hunt That was the case during 'our' time but my understanding is that they changed it later (eighties maybe when the girls came) so that, for example, Maine B was the junior house and Maine A the senior. Later still ( when they built the Grecians houses maybe) I believe...

I notice also that Husband’s sentence was not increased due to “out of time” - complaint about sentence made too late?

Re: INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS AND VAT

I see nothing wrong with a VAT exemption for all education.

Education costs enough as it is. Adding VAT would just make it more elitist, increase the divide between haves and have-nots, and stop those on a modest income from improving their education and thus their lot in life.

Re: Poulton, Cairncross, Sillett

Very fair comments. However, we can rely on victim statements because the jury believed them. Inaction can be difficult to prove, particularly when everyone passes the buck. Sometimes when there is so much confusion and ambiguity about roles and responsibilities, it helps to put faces to names. Let...

It was the same in the late 90s. I guess it's difficult to enforce now with mobiles.

Re: Poulton, Cairncross, Sillett

I have additionally just found Cairncross listed as a governor at Sir Robert Geffery's School, a Church of England primary school in Cornwall. http://www.sir-robert-gefferys.cornwall.sch.uk/governors.asp It still lists her as Head at Wells so I don't know how recent the information on the website is.

Re: Poulton, Cairncross, Sillett

I agree that people should not be tried by online forum, and that there should not be presumed guilt, but rather innocence unless proven guilty. I have a close relative who was a victim (later cleared) of a miscarriage of justice, so appreciate this point as much as anyone. But even if there’s no pr...

Re: Poulton, Cairncross, Sillett

This is disgusting. Either someone has been incredibly negligent with basic background checks (who doesn’t google nowadays?), or it is, as Avon suggested, mates looking after themselves. A nudge in the direction of Salisbury/Wiltshire local media wouldn’t go amiss. Or contacting the school. Genuinel...

Re: Roger Martin - trial

Vilified said that the boy played in the game following a blow to the head. However, the victim would have been crying. The victim would have been dizzy and in pain, and probably would not have been able to play rugby. Ignoring the rest of your post or even what this thread is about this statement ...

Re: Roger Martin - trial

Regarding the lying by omission: who in the world would voluntarily bring up something in a job interview that you knew would see your application fail? I would hedge that most or all job candidates lie by omission in this way. Not about hitting children, but about some personal or professional flaw...

Re: Roger Martin - trial

Now that is relevant as it is JR. But you next ask if he ever clipped anyone around the ear himself or administered the cane personally. It is precisely the myopia that you talk about that has left you unable to see through Vilified. I think the mere viewpoint is sufficient. To support it there and...
