Re: House structure

He left that year I think. I knew the lyrics of the Housey Rap well (I believe I still have a cassette tape copy somewhere) but I hadn’t realised he was a literal w****r. Well, my only source for this is the Housey Rap, which I imagine is referring to his personality rather than his habits. On the ...

Re: "Petition 2018" to Council for a "Truth & Reconciliation Inquiry"

I would suggest that, whilst there are still ongoing police investigations, a further recent charge, and the school/council I guess are already engaged with the police and the local authority, the last thing they need is another petition AT THIS POINT distracting them from dealing with the contact ...

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

That makes more sense - alleged offences might be along the lines of perverting the course of Justice, rather than failing to report a safeguarding issue.

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

Yamaha - I'm confused as the article Julian posted was from last week and said "Croft is reportedly under police investigation for allegedly failing to respond properly to a separate report of clerical sexual abuse." Maybe clergy have specific safeguarding rules to follow that can result i...

Re: Management knowledge of the Husband/Dobbie cases

Whether or not management were aware of the specific acts of abuse, Dobbie's grooming activities (which in themselves were wholly inappropriate even by the standards of the time) were certainly common knowledge. Anyone in Mid A in the mid to late 90's will remember some of the bizarre things he was...

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

Peter Ball-related article:- https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/jul/13/former-archbishop-of-canterbury-allowed-to-resume-a-church-role The article suggests those that failed to act on reports of abuse are under criminal investigation by the police. What criminal offences could they have commi...

Re: How far did the rot spread?

I am fully aware that for the vast majority of pupils being at CH was the chance of a lifetime. At the very least it was for some a roof to sleep under and food on the table. But for those of us who just wanted to be at home with Mum and Dad? Those of us who were constantly homesick. Those of us wh...

Re: Another charge

Alleged offences. Let's see what evidence there is. Better to close this until after a trial now, or take any info to the police. As an aside, if police are investigating back to the 1940s, any potential suspect then would have to be a minimum of 95-100. You cant go any further back. Could this beha...

Re: Management knowledge of the Husband/Dobbie cases

I think Tim might have been tutor in Peele A for some years whilst Neil Fleming was tutor in Peele B, so it might have been criticism of Fleming that rattled his cage. Tim probably feels almost as let down as we do tbh. Fleming taught classical civs in the library of Peele b as it was next to his (a...

Re: A WAY AHEAD?

Need to ratchet up the pressure on the school significantly before they'll spend any money dragging up negative press. Any inquiry report would have to be public eventually and would undo all the work of their new £19k PR person. Need to all write to the school demanding answers. Is that the Head, t...

Re: Should the forum be behind a registration wall?

Organising a joint letter to the school asking the questions highlighted by richardb seems like a good idea and might need a private space to discuss. A pm with multiple addressees could provide privacy within the current forum format if it wouldn't cause Julian techie or moral issues. That said, I ...

Another question on process - why is Karims sentencing pending pre-sentencing reports but Husbands sentencing was immediate?

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

Various options for the school: - ask someone independent to do an investigation, eg: charity commission, or an education ombudsman. - properly investigate themselves, but damn, they destroyed all the paperwork. - explain why its all too difficult but state they are sorry for their failings (which a...

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

I remain surprised at the failure to properly reveal in the press that Dobbie at the time was Chaplain, in a school which apparently values such things. Perhaps a number of us have photos of Dobbie in the trappings of his profession that we could upload here, which could be used by the press, and i...

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

Hi everyone, ive lurked for years but had to register and speak up. Firstly, to say to the victims: sorry. Gutted I couldn't help. I hope you can decompress now after years of stress and then move on with a less heavy heart. Personally, im angry and gobsmacked at the schools actions at the time - qu...
