The Morning After

Didn't think I'd hear myself say this ... but for me the time has gone quite quickly! Communication from my DD is decreasing which I am sure is a good sign and now when she does e-mail there is generally less of the "love you, miss you" stuff at the end which has removed the rather despera...

The Morning After

Had some photographs e-mailed from DD's housemistress of Barnes B marching into lunch ... In light of them another hairbrush and more hair clips have been sent today!

She seems to have made a good recovery from her bout of home sickness - wicked, cool!!

Re: The Morning After

Great news, Atticus! My dd sent a brief e-mail this morning - no mention of yesterday's party and her trauma over attending - she's clearly survived! She said she had to tidy her room then they're off to the beach! She's a skinny little thing - I hope they tether her in these winds!

The Morning After

Had an e-mail this afternoon "there's a party ... It will be loud music ... I don't want to go, I hate loud music but the Deps say I have to ... Mummy, what do I do?" told her to go to Matron and explain loud music distresses her (which it does) but at the end of the day it's an hour and s...

What do all the abbreviations mean?

I was well and truly ticked off by my dd on Wednesday for saying "Lower Erasmus" when it is Little Erasmus ... It was swiftly followed by a look only a pre-teen can give you that pretty much says "oh, don't you know anything?"! BFD - Big Friendly Dep (Deputy Grecian) Thanks to Pi...

Re: The Morning After

Pibble - I've sent to a PM. Not too sure why the method of working out their e-mail addresses is cloaked in secrecy - but thought I'd better tow the line!! We were always told (I think by house mistresses mainly) that phones were not allowed up to the first leave weekend - but I did think it odd tha...

Re: The Morning After

Just had a brief e-mail from my dd - up beat, light hearted ... she's loving it! Just wondered if anyone could tell me what TP is. It's her next subject after IT and "it sounds really boring!" I'd respond to how boring I think TP is going to be IF I knew what it was!!

Re: The Morning After

BARNES B!! That's us!! What a great bunch of girls! My dd's nursemaid did a brilliant job yesterday - I had my dd wrapped up in my arms in floods in the dining hall yesterday after Mr Franklin said his bit. I was in floods too so just indicated to her nursemaid to take her back to the house ... she ...

Re: The Morning After

Hey Tink - for once I can say with authority "I know how you feel". I also haven't been into my dd's room and know I have to at some stage - it looks like a bomb site and there's bound to be festering food in there somewhere! I was SO proud of her yesterday - she looked so wonderful in her...

Re: first day of term for second formers

Sallyscan - my dd is going into Barnes B .... so you'll not be alone in that bush you know! Worse night's sleep last night. I'm grateful my dd is so excited - if she was sad about going I'd be a bubbling wreck by now. Having all the packing and organizing to do has given me focus - but once the case...

Pub shout!

A while ago some bright spark suggested a swift half in a pub near CH after we have dropped off on Wednesday. I wondered if anyone was up for this ... certainly for me it would be nice to put some faces to names and, perhaps, have a chat and relax before the drive home. I'm only vaguely familiar wit...

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

jodz5052 - just hang on in there, I know exactly how you are feeling. When my DD fell head over heels in love with CH at an open day (just went to be nosey - never thought she'd actually want to go) I never quite believed I'd get to where I am today .... packing for her first day on Wednesday. Yes, ...

Re: first day of term for second formers

I have labelled a ridiculous amount of civvies for my DD - and I have a feeling I'll spend tomorrow morning with her arguing about how much she REALLY needs to take! Her civvy socks are the trainer type too - I have looped the label and sewn it into the heel of the sock with the sock tie underneath ...
