Security to visit CH these days

I went to CH yesterday for the first time in years. I didn't go onto the grounds but drove round the ring fence to have a look for old time's sake, and met up with an old member of staff who lives nearby. I have read in recent emails and Housey s etc. about the new rules whereby every visitor must r...

Re: The Forthcoming General Election

It's 3:50pm and my constituency hasn't even declared yet! One of the last two to do so, typical!

Re: Kate Davidson RIP

Very sad news. I will always remember her as she rushed me to Crawley hospital in the nick of time when I had appendicitis when no other nurse would believe me as they thought I was just trying to get off school. My thoughts are with those close to her.

Re: 2009 GCSE results

I heartily agree too! It works in both ways I reckon - you can have excellent results and be a hopeless employee and you can have poorish results but be a great all-rounder and go on to achieve much more. I don't mean to be negative, but young people are led to believe a degree certificate means eve...

2009 GCSE results

Check this link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/education/09/school_tables/secondary_schools/html/938_6011.stm The 2009 GCSE & A-Level results for all schools came out today on the BBC website. Naturally I looked up CH and was astounded to find that the percentage for "pupils with eq...

I only log on from time to time and just found this; glad you have it all solved. I also speak Dutch if need be in future.

Re: Master Keys

I came across a master key once and I stupidly handed it in straightaway, not realising what it was. When a non-foundationer friend informed me afterwards I was kicking myself, all those opportunities for exploration.

Re: Bokkers Today

In my day, Neill, it was any ( male ) that was an estate worker or someone who did school maintenance. Since then, as I understand it, it has been extended to include catering/house staff. When I was there I understood it referred exclusively to the catering staff, not any of the groundsmen or othe...

Re: Andy Murray

I think the right man won, but I do feel very much for Roddick on his 3rd Wimbledon final loss. Federer is just awesome though, and no-one can criticise him that Nadal wasn't there, Roger couldn't help that and he took full advantage, well done to him! I'm not as fond of Murray as I was of Henman du...

Re: Repeal major detrimental changes at Christ's Hospital

He changed the grecians ball form earlier in the week to the same night as the rock concert on the last night of term, so people weren't going round pissed all week. We were in uproar about it, it was our night and we didn't want it to clash with the rock concert which was the night we got to say g...

Re: Peele A Summer 2006

Michael Scuffil makes a good point about pupils needing to realise that life is full of little inconveniences, but forcing someone to wear a thick heavy uniform in 30 degrees all day long, when they have the choice to wear a tidy-enough half-housey, will not teach them anything, will lower their wor...

Re: Repeal major detrimental changes at Christ's Hospital

I'm glad this idea for a pupil council is not truly democratic, as that would never work. People would vote for their friends, rather than for who they think would be the best for the job. Same as on the football pitch where lots of kids pass to a friend in not such a great position rather than pass...
