Management knowledge of the Husband/Dobbie cases

I'm getting fed up with blanket condemnations by new posters on this forum of the management in the Husband/Dobbie cases, often as a result of innuendo from existing posters. I feel that many posters are conflating the Karim case (where most people here believe there were glaring errors, based on Po...

Re: A day by the seaside (aka Husband's folly)

An obvious move by any organisation in such a situation? Why fan the conspiracy theory flames, Richard?

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

Damned if they do, damned if they don't? Seriously I don't know. Some people might even prefer to talk to the school? Surely it's best to keep all avenues open to any other victims?

Re: A day by the seaside (aka Husband's folly)

Some press reports from yesterday. The story reached number 5 on the BBC site behind Trump x2, Novichok and the Three Lions. Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

On a practical note it is hard to see how the school could properly conduct such an inquiry. It doesn't have the power to summon people who are not current members of staff to give evidence. I would imagine that this was a significant reason that the school could not take things further when the ori...

Re: Vikki Askew

Bizarrely, when registering the death, I met Webmaster Julian Taylor's mum who was there as a counsellor.

Vikki Askew

It's sad that we lost Vikki Askew in March 2016. As the school faces adverse publicity it is worth remembering that it had staff of impeccable morality who worked themselves into the ground and eventually into the grave for their pupils. Anyone who went to Romania with Muir John Potter and Vikki wil...

No. That information would stay with the Counting House. Occasionally donation governors might visit a pupil in school and house parents would be aware of that, but I don't think all such pupils were on full fee remission as the CH definition of "need" was not just financial.

Re: A post on behalf of one of the Dobbie/Husband victims

Kerry's story is worrying. In my day the donation governors didn't pay anything like the full fees, so the CH Foundation was effectively leveraging this low life governor's "bargaining power" in his attempted seedy transaction.

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

Yes, without doubt, CH in the 1980's and 1990's was almost certainly an environment in which it was really difficult for many members of staff to report these things. Really difficult. Thanks for your very thoughtful post. One quibble. I personally don't recognise such an extreme characterisation o...

I don't excuse that. I am searching for an explanation.
