Re: A day by the seaside (aka Husband's folly)
I suspect Walsh is Stephen Walsh, an English teacher and author, who was at the school (and then presumably a close colleague of Simon Reid) in the 1990s, left and has now returned to the school. Presuambly his evidence relates to his first stint. Just a note - all the teachers (re post above) who g...

Throughout this unprecedented and very difficult period for all concerned, Pickering Town Council has taken legal and procedural advice from th...

Re: The Sentencing hearings
Dobbie won't be going to France (and will hopefully never be able to leave the country again). This isn't to do with French immigration law, or Brexit or anything, but to do with him being a Registered Sex Offender. He will need authorisation from his supervising Probation Office and Police Officer ...

Re: James Andrew Husband, Pickering Town Council
He was happy enough to talk about the matter below in 2001 - a perturbing story regarding the ex-Mayor of Pickering. Husband stated ' “He’s a very pleasant man, who has given body and soul for this town, but it’s a huge shock for a little place like this. It really is a bombshell". Bombshell in...

Sadly I think he will get 16 years, but I would hope for 20 years plus.
I emailed the Attorney General's office following Webb and Burr's sentences, as did I suspect many others - and was pleased that the sentenced was eventually increased as a result.

Re: Who Knew What?
HI Marty - Re Dobbie having been seen at the Reunion in 2016 with a 'young boy', even if detail is that minimal, given what is now known about Dobbie could I please suggest this is reported to the Police (Sussex Police on 01273 470101 or via 101)? Although the details appear to be minimal/vague, the...

Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse
In the deeply moving thread on another topic, it is confirmed that the Chaplain to whom Husband abuse was reported was not Dobbie, although he of course knew of Husband's abuse. Please edit if inaccurate or at the wishes of the survivor in this case whose wishes should be paramount, but I can only i...

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
If Fleming took appropriate action, which still somehow resulted in nothing being none, given he is the only current member of staff at the school and married to the current Deputy Head who (I think) covers Safeguarding, then it might be sensible for the school to say that? The other possibility is ...

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
I get that all sorts of systems and supports we might take for granted today weren't around in the 1990s. But I would expect a competent person in teaching or any other profession to work out for themselves of doing something about an explicit report of child sexual abuse and to follow it through i....

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
Are you responding just about Fleming, or regarding Poulton, Sillett and Cairncross who were most definitely management? Does their silence bother you? RE Fleming - so if a teacher reports an allegation of a sexual offence to a Head, but it's abundantly that nothing whatsoever is done (if that happe...

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
Whilst it is true to say that Neil Fleming was not on trial, I see no reason to disbelieve the victim / survivor and the jury deliberated for I think around 25 hours and they believed her too. In this context it seems particularly crass for the school to have promoted a puff piece in the TES --- tow...

Re: James Andrew Husband, Pickering Town Council
Hmm.Possibly on stuff like pension rights you might have a point - but the statement is absurd - they ca and should a) express horror at the convictions and extend their sympathy to the victims b) make clear that he is no longer the Town Clerk, as he is a convicted rapist at the start of a long pris...
