Christ’s Hospital Foundation is a major UK charity which manages investment funds of around £300 million. It also provides a range of functional services to the School called Christ’s Hospital including Finance, Development, Marketing, Admissions and Estate management.
We have a vacancy for:

Finance Director – Christ’s Hospital Foundation

The prime purpose of the Finance Director’s role is the proper and efficient control of the Foundation’s finances including securities investments, investment properties and other financial assets. Supporting this are the following accountabilities:-
• To be pro-active in providing advice to Council, Securities sub-Committee and the Finance and Audit Committees to aid the formulation of policy and strategy consistent with requirements of the Foundation and the concepts of Total Return.
• To challenge and effectively liaise with professional advisers colleagues.
• To plan and supervise the compilation, and oversee the implementation, of annual and long term revenue and capital budgets consistent with the concepts of Total Return.
• To act as Secretary to the Trustees of the Christ’s Hospital Pension Scheme.
• To participate in the management of Risk, particularly in terms of financial risks.
• To provide an efficient accounting service to Christ’s Hospital Foundation, Christ’s Hospital School, Bluecoat Sports and Christ’s Hospital Enterprises Limited.

In addition to experience in the above, the successful candidate is likely to possess the following:-
• FCA or similar qualification
• Advanced Excel skills
• Independent, robust but diplomatic nature
• Strength to drive own initiatives and the pragmatism to seek agreed solutions
• Ability to influence Trustees and junior staff equally well
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams & the energy to deliver agreed results
• Structured, organised approach to tasks, flexible approach with people
• Infectious positive attitude, and a motivational manager of staff

Candidates with some background in the following will be at an advantage:-
Charity finance principles, Corporation Tax and VAT planning, relationship with HMRC, operating in a Total Return environment, investment strategy and performance monitoring, execution of investments & currency hedging, empathy with the School & its ethos.

This is a full time position, based at the Counting House at Horsham. The salary will be negotiable and will reflect the demands of this key position. The start date will be as soon as practicably possible for the successful candidate.
