It was there yesterday! It was too much for me to read then, and I was working on a laptop so didn't print it out! My cursory comment was that the girls hardly got a mention. The first name on the register was that of a girl.

Yes it worked for me... but I agree with Katharine that I found it sad that a) it is not mentioned that the first name on the register was a girl and that b) the Hertford history includes not just the 'little' boys who were 'put out to nurse' but also the girls...

I'll have to remember to look up my book which my daughter "borrowed" which has all the details

Younger pupils from Newgate Street were sent to Hertford in 1666 following the great fire when part of the school was destroyed.

They returned eventually and there was a separate move somewhat later which established the Hertford School which survived until the late last century.
