Re: More sad news
Ron Lorimer was a breath of fresh air in what to me was a pretty claustrophobic school atmosphere. I'm afraid I was not an academic inclined pupil, but Ron always encouraged me to do my best and recognised that I was keen on Geography but had limited ability to show it on paper. One evening In the summer of 67 I went with a couple lads to the Bax Castle near Southwater for an illegal drink. I was in the public bar and ordered three drinks The landlord took my money and the change he gave was far less than I anticipated. I questioned this, the landlord said I'd ordered 4 drinks, I disputed this, he then just stood aside and gave me a full view of Ron, at the end of the bar, raising his glass thanking me for a drink. I should have been expelled for that but Ron told me later that as I was the son of a publican it would be churlish, in my case, to enforce such a school rule. Once again Cheers Nog
