Looking at your dates at CH, I am assuming this loss must have been at a young age.

Have you any more details Clive ?

Thanks for the links Doc. I now take it Richard was part of CH Staff at one time. I can't say I recognised the name.

Yes, John, he was on the Horsham staff from 1974 to 1981 - a superb, engaging, life-enhancing teacher.

Richard Palmer

Memorial Lecture and Drinks

Wednesday 21 January 2015
Lecture 5.30pm - 6.30pm; Reception 6.30pm - 7.30pm
Location Bedford School

"On 21st January the Bedford School community will be reflecting on and celebrating Richard Palmer's 29 years of service to the School through his two great passions: Larkin and Jazz. Richard sadly passed away over the summer after almost three decades of devoted service as an English Teacher, Head of English and Head of General Education; he has been an influence on generations of Bedfordians and few forget the experience of being in a 'Doc' Palmer class.

Given Richard's profound influence on the academic life of the school and his contribution to Larkin scholarship, it is fitting that we mark his life through a lecture, which is to be delivered by Professor James Booth [formerly] of Hull University. Professor Booth is a Larkin scholar and writer of the acclaimed 'Phillip Larkin: Life, Art and Love'. He will give a lecture entitled 'Larkin and Jazz', which is to be followed by a drinks reception and jazz performances.

Entry is free but booking is essential to secure your place. Please register your place...."
