Good Vibrations – Gamelan in Prisons

A part time, freelance Project Manager is sought to play a key role in the future of Good Vibrations. This post will be responsible for managing the delivery of the projects to run gamelan workshops in prisons. Gamelan is Indonesian percussion music, which helps inmates develop team-working, communications and life skills. The Project Manager will need excellent relationship-building skills alongside their first class organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail. They will work closely with the Project Director to develop the work of Good Vibrations.

Good Vibrations is part of the Firebird Trust, a pioneering and developmental music organisation which seeks to inspire and empower people through a creative involvement in making music. Good Vibrations has rapidly established itself as a leading provider of arts in prisons and has recently secured funding to grow and develop the project. This will include becoming independent.

Terms and Conditions

The daily rate will be in the range of £180 and £210 (depending on experience), plus expenses (telephone, travel etc). Each workshop takes approximately 4 days to organise and there will around 20 per year, possibly significantly more, depending on funding. The Project Manager may also take on other responsibilities, depending on availability and skills. The post holder will be home based but will attend regular meetings in London and the final day of workshops. The contract will be with the Firebird Trust for an initial period of 12 months.
