The Message!

Very scary, in the middle of the night, climbing up past the huge steel tanks with the sound of water pouring all around you.

I hope the cleaning of the tower has not erased the message that I left at the top. (can't remember what I wrote now, but it shure would not have been my name!)

Another adventure from John! I am just madly curious to know the message he left at the top all those years ago!

I can't remember now.... probably 'Barnes B is the Best' or 'Kilroy was Here' or something equally 1950's schoolboyish.

Amazing the places that Kilroy gets to.

The CH Premier Risk-Taker?

Post by Angela Woodford »

The Water Tower is such a splendid structure, *I am looking forward to seeing it. And I feel astonished that anyone could climb to the top of it, especially at dead of night - risky!

But then John seems to have specialised in doing risky things! 8)

*afterthought - also looking forward to seeing where these tubes are. And to think that word used to make me think "Fallopian". No longer!

I climbed it on the inside, not as scary as doing it on the outside... I guess! :)

Much to the detriment of my academic results... If I could pass anything on to those at CH today... "Work hard now and play later"

Risk

Post by Angela Woodford »

Yes and no, John, IMHO.

You may well have had a more adventurous career at CH! But perhaps that may have shaped you in all sorts of different ways. I always admire the risk-taking people, who, though regarded as unconventional by more regular-minded peers, benefit us all by fresh and original attitudes - you sound that sort of person.

Angela, What can I say?
I think I 'played' at school and had to work hard when I left. I must have been what was called a 'late starter'.
But, I have great affection for the school even though I left with no qualifications (on paper)... I had a great time there.
(When I read the thread from Gemma about going to CH - I hope she enjoys the life there as much as I did.)

Pity that whoever it was/is could be seen to be more important than Old Blues!
