I was amazed that after several hours of torrential rain last night, the snowman built by the children next door had only partially disappeared - though sitting in the middle of a green lawn!

Similar observation here, Kerren.

When the snow was deep and feathery, a very serious-looking gentleman emerged from no 37 and began construction of some sort of snowman. As I tottered my way into the village, he was beginning work, packing the snow body extremely carefully, layer on layer. My trip out took some time, and there, on my way back was a snow robot figure. It had a squared off body and head, kind-of-delineated straight arms, maybe a grid design on its body. However,it had a mouth made from a twig that gave it a sinister malevolent leer. Is the man at no 37 a frustrated automaton designer who couldn't get to work that day? Was he expressing a wish that techology will rule, then eventually fade away? Perhaps he was exploring a concept for an Installation?

Anyway, the snow robot is so well made that it's still standing solidly, sneering on the lawn of no 37. Its twig mouth has slipped a bit though. It looks bitter, very bitter.

I posted a reply this morning, which does not seem to have 'taken'!
It was to breathe a sigh of relief to get back to the 'snow' theme of this thread - and to ask if anyone else has suffered a flat tyre because of an unseen (full of water, in the dark) pothole? GRRRRRR!
