Welcome to the unofficial Christ's Hospital Forum - for discussing everything CH/Old Blue related. All pupils, parents, families, staff, Old Blues and anyone else related to CH are welcome to browse the boards, register and contribute.
The British Army have a tradition, of translating English sayings and idiom, into the particular language of the Country in which they are serving --------
One of my favourites was --- Non venere il veccio acido con mio solare
Which translates (Very roughly) as ------ Don't come the old acid with me -- sunshine !!
I have just been sent this, by a friend ------ I think it is hilarious, he could earn a better living as a stand-up comic ------- Watch it to the end !!
Very definitely - I can remember him and most of the people he names except his younger brother. I'm surprised at his having the Italian exam - it was accepted that you were not tested on the extra language (though I did do Spanish O level that way) If Peter is reading this, "Brown" is mentioned - K C died last year and if the moan was at me, mea culpe, Peter.
I enjoyed it; it would be nice to have some of the photos put onto the forum so that names could be added. Some of the photos must be 1952,or earlier.Unfortunately I could not get the sound to work.

David: many of those involving people ARE on the Forum including the St Matthews Day parade and Col A Flu epidemic dinner parade photos. I don't know where he got those ones from unless from the Forum.
There is a photo montage of 4 photos which is early and one of those in the dorm (with what looks like a wardrobe) is post Summer 1961. Otherwise they portray what I saw even if, perchance, they are earlier or later.
Mr Moderator: any way we can have a link in your montage of all forum photos?
I wonder if there is anyone with the resources and technical expertise to produce something similar for Hertford? I have (somewhere) a video tape labelled Hertford and Horsham, I think. Somebody went all round the Hertford site recording details in the knowledge that the merger was going to happen. The quality was not good, but evocative. [Note to self - must rewatch it!] I notice that Mr Hiner and I were at CH at pretty much the same time, although contacts between girls and boys were a rarity in those days. It would be interesting to compare. I certainly notice that the ethos was the same, and his experience and feelings on entry were certainly similar.
Hear hear, Fjgrogan!! What a wealth of photos! Especially the informal ones! I don't remember ANYONE having something as grand as a camera at school. It would be so lovely to have a 'grand tour' of Hertford. For all of the ups and downs - I have an enormous amount of nostalgia for the place.
I wouldn't like any Forum contributors to be handed by Ryanair into the hands of the Spanish Police so here is Ryanair's recommendation as to how to avoid that fate:
