Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
The Daily Mail is reporting that they have been convicted:

No doubt due to my legal background, I have received a significant number of messages which make it clear that members of the forum hold very strong views about the whole issue. We need to take time to take stock and consider how best to deal with this subject. In particular we must take great care not to expose the moderators to risk of threats of legal action for the good work that they do.

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
We are entitled to rely on the verdicts of the jury as proving that the pair of them committed the offences they have been convicted of, so there is a good level of protection based on justification and fair comment.
There are guidelines prepared by the Sentencing Council intended to ensure consistency throughout the jurisdiction in sentencing.
We know that Husband has been convicted of an offence of rape on a pupil under the age of 15 who I think will be assessed as having been particularly vulnerable and in circumstances representing the grossest breach of trust.
Under the guidelines I think he will be assessed at the very least as a category 2A offender in respect of that rape which means a starting point of 10 years imprisonment. That should be uplifted for the other assaults he was convicted of, so i am expecting a sentence in the order of 14 years imprisonment.
We don't know a great deal of the detai, of Dobbie's offences but he will be on a par with Burr and Webb, with an uplift in his case for mutliple victims, so expect a sentence of 8 years imprisonment upwards.

Sadly not.
I am going to see what information we can legitimately get and request it from the court.

Once again Richard, many many thanks.
I, of course, will be watching posts on this subject with a moderating eye.

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
I am happy to keep a careful eye in case any lines get crossed but it is pretty much open season on Husband and Dobbie. We need to be careful about identifying people who have not been convicted.
I am not surprised by the convictions. I would have been amazed if either had walked clean away.
If anyone wants advice about what to do, I am quite happy to advise confidentially.

Jan, (wife) is currently surfing on her I pad. Papers through GB are already picking it up.

My therapist says I have a preoccupation with vengeance. We’ll see about that.

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
....and I'm sure Husband most definitely will. After all, he's the only one with a cat in hell's chance.
I've a sneaking feeling Burr may well be back in court in due course, in connection with incidents which may or may not have occurred on his narrowboat (always provided any OBs actually want to put their heads up above the parapet and admit to having fallen victim).
Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS
Hopefully the media will now correctly describe Dobbie as Chaplain to properly identify the magnitude of the abuse of trust that he committed.

Not bad for the hours if you want some extra part time work. Certainly would suit a retired press-officer.
