OLD BLUE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA?

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Latest poll apparently putting SH in the lead. https://ktla.com/news/politics/inside-c ... uary-2026/

However, it's the vote that are counted that count.

it does show how far old blues can end up from what CH originally intended and how differently people choose to live out the charge after they leave.

I don't see why SH is erring far from CH ethics.
On the other hand, I am a trifle surprised that such a very recent immigrant could become a State governor.

The Constitution of the United States of America (currently) imposes a requirement of being a 'natural born citizen' of the United States for two posts, (Federal) President and Vice-President. All other posts are open to US citizens (many to non-citizens). For example at least twice the Secretary of State has been a foreign-born US citizen (Kissinger and Albright).

The qualification for a post in a given State is a matter for the State Constitution (subject to any Federal law due to the Supremacy Clause), so there is no reason why Mr H ought not to be State Governor once he became a US citizen (cf. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Austrian-born former California Governor).

After all, we have had a Danish-born King, a Normandy-born King and a Hanover-born King.
