I`m keeping quiet!Jeeves wrote:Anyone that knows me well will be aware that I have several favourite cars. My number one favourite has to be the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing circa '54-'57. I have seen about three of them, a very rare car indeed.
After recently watching a car restoration TV program I have become quite interested in the Porsche 911 convertible Targa from approx 1970s. This would be in my top 10.
My first and current car is a white 1995 N Reg Rover 100 series Metro (later shape design) 1400cc in very good condition. (I might post a pic eventually if I can find it). Surprisingly nippy for a small car and can allegedly go off the clock (110mph+ - not sure of accuracy though - specifications state 103 tops).
If insurance was cheaper for young men my first car would have been a well tuned 1.3i BRG John Cooper Mini with stripes (a relative offered it to me, but it was far too expensive for me to insure it)!!
Seem to be lots of interesting cars mentioned, the three that caught my attention were: Renault 4 (used to be quite a few in Brighton), VDP Metro (apparently extremely rare - the veneer is a bit weird though) and the white Mk1 Golf Cabriolet (that vehicle caught my eye on the Bax night, immaculate is the word Mr Plum).
Your favourite car, boys and girls!

You obviously have immaculate taste (see my previous post on the subject). I now have only a model of a leaf green Renault 4 to remind me of my glory days in Flossie.Jeeves wrote:Seem to be lots of interesting cars mentioned, the three that caught my attention were: Renault 4 (used to be quite a few in Brighton),

I`m not sure what I`d say was my all time favourite car - I do like quite a lot of the classic cars, appearance-wise.
As for cars I`ve owned, my favourite has got to be the first car I had - a black 1958 Morris Minor with red leather interior! It was a lovely little car to drive! I currently own a Yaris, which I like almost as much - and, despite its little 1 litre engine, it goes rather well, particularly in the hands of the right driver!

Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.

A friend of mine got 9 in a week when they put up a new camera in the village.
She then moved to Netherlands for 2 years to avoid any more, which I thought was a bit drastic.

I wish I could afford to get a "dream" car.............
To date I have owned
1. Vauxhall "shoveit" Chavette. I drove that around London for a couple of years until just about everything that could seize up did so. I sold it to a dealer for £350
2. An Austin Ambassador. I loved that car, the performance wasn't up to much but it was so comfortable! It wrote it off by rolling it over on the old A40.
3. A Volkswagen Passat 1.6L. They know how to make cars in Germany! That car just kept on going and going for 14 years.
4. I presently own a Ford Escort 1.8L Zetec.
One day I will get a dream car!
