I gave up just over a week ago, and although I've had a couple of moments when I was pretty desperate, I haven't caved in.
Look out for the night sweats after three or four days as the nicotine and other bad stuff leaves your system. That should be enough to convince you you're doing the right thing. Good luck!

I gave up 10 years ago. Only occasionally do I fancy a smoke, but I might as well just burn £30 every week. However, no-one around me smokes so I don't have the temptation. It must be difficult for those who are surrounded by it.

Thanks Robin, that is probably the best piece I have read since having a brain f**t and giving up on the spot. Day two is easier than day one by a long way but the habit of reaching for a fag is p**sing me off beyond beliefhuntertitus wrote:I found that it was the habit rather than the addiction that was so hard to break
You must always be on your guard that after the first few weeks off fags that you don't kid yourself that just one puff will be Ok
I promise you - one puff will bring you right back to being a full time smoker again
Another thing to remember is that EVERY DAY IT GETS EASIER TO STAY OFF THEM!
So please don't give up the non smoking way of life

Ithink just the fact you really want to stop is good
I had a friend who died of cancer and I tell you, if you watch that at close quarters it doesn't half focus the mind
Not that I'd want you or anyone to go through that
Keep us posted on how it's going
Good that other posters say they were successful at stopping
Proves it's possible
