Woodworm cricket bat
Dunno if this has been posted elsewhere, apologies if so - but I was listening to the Today programme on radio 4 yesterday and on came one Joe Sillett, to talk about his cricket bat company.
He said that his dad (Mr Bob Sillett I presume!!!) had dug out an old woodworm-riddled bat from his shed, and Joe had spent a day sanding / carving away all the damaged parts. The resulting bat had an odd shape but he used it anyway for his team in Surrey, and scored 142! So he developed the design and set up a company to market it. Nowdays he's grown the company and sold 15,000 bats last year - at c.£200 apiece that's a tidy sum - and Flintoff uses one to batter the aussies with.
Their site appears to be here: http://www.woodworm.tv
Nice story I thought, and if Joe's reading this - well done!
Cheers
Tim

If anyone's got a copy and could scan it in, or send it to me, would be good to get it posted on here, and/or in the news on the CHA website.Richard Ruck wrote:There was an article about Woodworm in this week's West Sussex County Times as well.
Probably good content for "The Old Blue" too?

Well I must say that the West Sussex County Times website is one of the worst news sites I've ever come across, but I managed to find the article, or at least a stub of it:

Pietersen's already broken one during this innings.Great Plum wrote:Well, dragging the topic back onto the correct subject...
Good to see another century has been scored by a woodworm bat...
Mind you, he's got a nice collection of spares.
