I had refrained from getting involved earlier as I was more than slightly concerned about the delay in getting the edition out.
The system, if it may be called that, is that following the deadline, I, together with Richard Constable from Sunset Design, liaise with one another to get the magazine into some sort of final format.
This time we were fortunate that Caron Garrod ran her professional eye over the "almost final" version as a proof reader.
Once agreed by the CHA office, it is sent to Ian Allen in Surrey, who get it printed and returned to the CHA office.
From there, plus any inserts, it is sent to a company called Codestream, who as far as I understand, stick them all in envelopes and send them out.
I have met Richard and the people at Ian Allen, but have had nowt to do with Codestream, as they cannot affect the quality of the magazine. The CHA office deal with Codestream direct.
The magazine was ready for despatch by late February, but unfortunately, the inserts were not.
In a cost conscious world, it made sense to send the inserts out with the magazine, and hence the delay. We are obviously going to have to improve our coordination skills.
We were fortunate to get some very good articles this time, and I was pleased with the cover, since it is the only view I have ever had of the Headmaster's back garden. Just as well the photographer has now left CH.

Edmund Blunden's daughter Catherine was in my year at Hertford briefly - she came and went at non-standard times - IIRC she joined us in the third year and left in the fourth or something. I think she was in 4's. He must have been a very old parent.

Matt - Look at the photo front page, North Downs in the distance. Aproximately 3/4 in from the right, and a 1/4 from the centre, there is a sort of white blob. I THINK, that might be the Goodwyns tower-blocks which on a sunny day can easily be seen from certain points on the South Downs.

I'd love to have the original photo and enlarge it dramatically.
