I think it might have depended on your house. Or possibly there was a list for morning chapel but not for Sundays? I definitely remember sitting next to a couple of pals in chapel, and I doubt that three of us would have deliberately been put together by anyone more senior
There was definitely a 'marching' list in 2s, I do remember operating a delayed entry to pews tactic and getting to sit next to someone who was two or three people behind me inthe order and then spending the next 5 minutes sniggering and getting deadly looks from the mons - (oddly I can't remember them being called mons, almost the only thing that stuck with me was quiz and ego - probably because it was usually about food!!!! )

That must have been in the second or third form when you had a bit of self-confidence because the mons in your first year were Jane Erskine and me, both of whom were in the choir.
