I'd be really grateful for any ideas!!!
Well you didn't specify the quality Angela but here goes!! (BTW - loved the hat adventure, well done!) Given that the wedding is in England and as far as weather goes, all bets are off, how about.....

We thank thee Lord for happy hearts,
For rain and sunny weather
We thank thee Lord for this food
and that today we are together

or

Rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub :)

or

For what we are about to eat, we thank you Lord for this big treat :D

or finally

Bless this bunch as they munch their lunch

(sorry, got nephews in the house - have regressed by about 35 years....!! )

Very nice, Gerrie - thank you! Inspiration for a Grace is growing, and thank you all for the pms which have been most helpful. Rather splendid, I thought was

For scrambled egg and buttered toast
Thank Father Son and Holy Ghost!

The Stag Night has happened. I have heard that my son was propositioned by two irresisible beautiful lookalike blondes at 0500hrs and coaxed away to an unknown destination. And the Hen Night is this Saturday! Squawk!

Still to get - an elegant lace edged hanky. Hilary said that I must not weep into a soggy wodge of Kleenex, and that waterproof mascara is essential.

Amy, I hadn't even met my OH 13 months before our wedding! I met him very briefly at Christmas time, got to know him a lot better in the Easter school holidays and we got married in August. As that was 38 years ago it looks as if it might last!

i read an article yesterday about some research that suggests four hugs a day...with your partner is they key to a successfull marriage!

It had me laughing, how could they possibly have enough evidence to suggest that alone?

And there was me thinking that I was the only unusual one.
My wife was a next door neighbour in Costa Rica when I was a British volunteer. She was best friend of a girl I was going out with. That finished but being next door I was invited to parties. After I left CR we kept writing.
She moved to LA where I visited her at Easter 1973, we were married in August 1973 and are still together.

I met John when I was a volunteer too, The British Council was officially the Overseas Arm of VSO at the time. As he worked for the British Council you can imagine the teasing we got for the use of the overseas arm!

I've got a memory of one of the Seniors in the Cloakroom reading from a letter from Katharine -

"Katharine says that married life is wonderful!"

We fell into an envious silence.

I met Joe in the spring 38 yeas ago. We soon decided we would get married at Christmas, but his sister , who was helping to look after his daughters suggested thay the summer holidays would be better. It would give the girls time to settle down as they were both changing schools, one to the juniors and the other to secondary. August 1970 was clearly a good month,eh Katharine?

Angela, I thought of you today when a kind man brought three big bags of wedding hats into the Hospice shop. We now have so many that we are having wedding hats as a special window display next week, so if you are near Barnstaple........!

Fantastic, Maggie! What a splendid donation for your shop. I'll try and get to Barnstaple to admire the gorgeous display!

Well, Gerrie...

Not too chaotic. Has Henry got a good shirt, black shoes and cuff links? He has been booked in for hair cut and hair straightening, yes!

At last, a cake stand crisis averted by finding one to hire at Cake-a-Licious of Exeter.

I've collected the Hat, and keep gloating over it. It's in a huge floral hatbox along with a chic little scarlet satin bag, offered for free by the lovely Hat Hire Hilary.

Enormous cheque written for the heating of Kirk Deighton church because the Vicar feels the cold v badly. More

I tried on my outfit amended for the evening party, and twirled in front of my current husband. "What do you think?" I cried excitedly. "Hmm" he said groping for the words. "It does look a bit like you're in Alexandra Workwear..." So now I am in despair. Four hugs a day? Forgeddaboudit.

Grandpa has rung me once and the bride twice to ensure that he's to be seated next to "a glamorous woman".

And with precision timing Ferdinand has injured a back paw - torn out a claw! - which has ensured that I have been spending time hand-feeding the invalid cat little tastes of tinned salmon; his mega-treat favourite.

Ooh.. *making moaning noise*
