Lonelymom ---- You are conversing with someone who, in a previous existence, was an ANTIQUE DEALER !

I have often made money from other people's discarded "Clutter "
I confess to being a "Squirrel" -- you never know when it might come in useful !
When we moved into our present house, the large double Garage was unuseable for months ! -- and even now has only one car (MINE !) in it------

If I have ever lost anything in our house -- it has usually been "Tidied " !

Neill, exactly how many jobs have you had????

I have a real aversion to clutter, in fact, I hate it! Maybe I'm rebelling because I come from a line of 'squirrels'. My poor nan despairs of my grandad's hoarding, having filled a double garage, a conservatory, a shed and a spare room and a loft from floor to ceiling with c**p! And my mum, well, she just does my head in because she never throws anything away! Even pointless things like the tiny little plastic bags you get spare buttons in when you buy blouses, or those little plastic-coated bendy metal things that hold a toy in place in the box, and she says 'that might come in handy one day!' WHEN???!!!! And what for?!! Throw it away! It's RUBBISH!!!

Joe's first m-in-l was a mega squirrel. In her kitchen, you had to move round sideways, because when a cupboard became full of "things" she simply left it in situ and bought another cupboard. Her sitting room was occupied by what seemed like dozens of small tables supporting more "things" that were neither use nor ornament.

This sounds just like someone I know. I can't say who (don't think it would be fair), but suffice to say, the person is even worse. Does anyone remember a tv programme a few years ago, with an old Polish man called Mr Trevas (? spelling), who's house was filled from floor to ceiling with junk and rubbish in every room! Well, I know another 'Mr Trevas'. I just don't understand how or why people choose to live like that!

Aren't they just? So too is Skype - Hanna (age 3 and in Finland) once tried to teach me 'insey winsey, spider' in Finnish via the webcam - which actually puts this thread back on topic, after a fashion!!

To digress again though, Neill, would you have a breadmaker recipe for jam that is suitable for my diabetic husband?

Back to Breadmakers :offtopic:
Short answe No !
Jam needs enough sugar to make it set --- therefore, it isn't the amount of Sugar -- it is the amount of JAM !
The Blessed Anne and I, eat jam, and just about everything, but we are cautious in the amounts,------ We take our Blood Sugars Morning and Evening, and we are both Type 1s, on Insulin. so we vary this accordingly.
This is not a practice for the Newly Diagnosed, but after 53 and 28 years practical usage --- our Consultants think we know what we are doing.
Eat Jam --- but cut down on the Spuds !
Sorry --- I have just referred to your Post --- you referred to your Diabetic Husband ---- Type 1 or Type 2 ?
It is, in many ways more difficult for the Type 2 on Diet, and,or Tablets --- but the same advice applies !
Re Breadmaker Jam --- it is probably easier to buy it -- unless you are making something Special wot Tescoids don't sell !

Thanks Neill. He is Type 2, diagnosed a few years ago, and has progressed from tablets to injections but they are not insulin - something new I think. We do buy Reduced Sugar Jam from Tescoids, but purely for him - I am a Marmite and Peanut Butter person. (Now how can I work a spider into this to keep us on topic?)

Spiders are like Marmite/peanut butter, you either love them or hate them.

I love them, and snakes, lizards and other dry scaly things. Not keen on things that move quickly like little furry things and frogs.

I've got frogs in my garden :( They were on the path last night and I couldn't step over them, so I had to climb through the runner beans to escape! :(

Ah - perhaps that's where our little colony moved to when we demolished the shed!
