It will be worth it when he is a film star and takes me to Hollywood.

Re: The Ashes
I can't claim to have been a "Star" --- but let me advise you that "Filming" requires two Accessories ---
A Camp stool (Notice the CAMP) and a Crossword.
Most of the day is spent waiting for your "Call" and your finest Scene is reduced to about 30 seconds, with the rest on the Cutting Room floor !
Am I Bitter and Twisted ?------- You bet I am !!!

Re: The Ashes
Ricky Ponting gets a dodgy 'Out' decision from the umpire and glares back at him. He being the whinging ozzie who complained about us time wasting when we were batting in the 1st. Test !
the words 'Kettle' and 'Pot' spring to mind.
And...............
Just to make my day, Tiger Woods doesn't make the cut at Troon, and HE drives off in a huff !
Oh, sweet justice.

Husband has gone today. Hope he is enjoying it because he overslept this morning (my fault apparently) then it was my fault that there was no train from local station between 8.30 and 9.10, and he nearly went without hat, sunlotion and sunglasses, and I hadn't got any cash nor had I bought his newspaper, and because I was working I couldn't run him 15 miles to the next station, and when I got to work it turned out that he had sent an email without an attachment so I had to go home a send it from his laptop.
Going for a lie down now.

Re: The Ashes
Speaking of oversleeping .......... someone in the next street has a burglar alarm which sounded off at 5 am, closely followed by a car alarm, both of which went on forever and I didn't dare go back to sleep because we had a builder coming to work on our new shed/workshop, and also Kirri and partner coming to see us. What is the point of all these alarms if nobody apparently pays any attention to them?

Re: The Ashes
This is a bit "Off Topic" but re Burglar alarms ---
I heard one going off, on a house quite close to where I live, and since I knew the occupants were away --- I telephoned the Police.
I was asked ---- "Have you checked if there is any sign of entry --- and can you see anybody in there ?"
Being the son of a Policeman -- and having been on the Police Authority , I was a bit non-plussed !
"Surely" I said, "That is the job of the Police ?"
"No sir, we have so many false alarms, that we cannot attend, unless there is sign of entry "
I sighed (Loudly !) and put the phone down !
Had I investigated --- and had my head kicked in by three Burglars --- It would presumeably, have been my own fault !!!!

Re: The Ashes

Now we need to wrap Freddie in cotton wool for 10 days and hope that he will be patched up sufficiently to play in the next one.
Same goes for KP.

Re: The Ashes
OOps, son and I overslept this morning which meant we were running 1/2 hour late and I got stuck in a 6 mile, 50 minute queue after an accident on the M3. The various radio travel persons started mentioning it as I passed.

I got im after a "Civic" Meeting to find that the Aussies were all out --- and Onions had got two wickets with the first two balls bowled !
We seem to be doing all right today at close.
Keep holding our collective breath !

Re: The Ashes
Wasn't yesterday brilliant? Pity about the weather today - it's still a bit damp here in NE Birmingham, but we might get play later, fingers crossed! I'm rather relieved about KP's absence; for me he's never been a team player, running partners out and playing ego-trip strokes e.g. the way he got out at Cardiff. Saying "That's the way I play" isn't good enough. He's never been consistent, & when he was briefly Captain it was noticeable how he referred to the other team members as "them" rather than "us". I'm really glad Bell's been given another chance.
