Oh Angela, I have just read that out to the women in my office, we all have daughters 18-19 years old, and we have seen the future. Now we have to queue for the loo we are laughing so hard.

What a lovely anecdote on this drab Wedensady afternoon...
Confirmation then that Susannah will not be hearing "don't be stupid Scarlett, she looks like a big meringue!"

Wonder if the vicar will talk about the Holy Goat?¨!!

It's a crying shame the MOB doesn't get to make a speech. Any chance of an invitation, Angela? All expenses paid, of course?

Munch - I am in danger of falling off my chair and shorting out my keyboard with the tears of laughter that are falling onto it.

You were served bubbles????????????????????????????

40+ day, three of us crammed into my clown car with the defective air con, and all I got was a plastic cup of water (self served) and a bucket load of attitude.

What a fab thought Philip! If only! An Old Blue Professor would add considerable style to our side of the church. And the pudding at the reception might interest you very very much! Philip, when is your wedding?

Certainly, Caroline - the visiting Bridal Gown Designer brought us glasses of chilled Buck's Fizz! The Oopsy Whoopsy ladies kept the coffee coming in the prettiest china cups. Tremendous!

Today, we go to fit my current husband, father-in-law and son with their regalia. I shall see Henry dressed in something other than tree-surgeon jeans for the first time in ages. However, I doubt if Pronuptia of Exeter can match the great style and niceness of Oopsy Whoopsy!

Thanks, Angela - I notice you left out the "all expenses paid" bit in your quote!

I will be getting married some time in the last 5 days of March next year - it partly depends on the monks deciding the most propitious day (from the choice I give them, with a strong hint or two if necessary!), but also on when certain people can be here at the same time. I haven't been shopping for my outfit yet, but I don't think it will be quite as splendid as the fabulous Susannah's. It might be a bit cheaper as well. There will, of course, be much lusty banging of gongs. Anyone who'll be in this neck of the jungle is welcome to attend - bearing in mind that it is the custom here to shower the happy couple with large quantities of ready cash!

My family arrived, in two parties, the day before Jess' wedding. Jess' hen's night had been held the night before, and I guessed that we were in trouble when she failed to show up at the airport to greet her Grandmother.

Mitch (my son) had flown in from Qld the day before and spent the night with one of his surfy friends and wasn't where he was supposed to be at pick-up time, so he and I got to the airport to find Mum, Sis and b-i-l looking a little miffed, although my brother had been there on time to greet them as they emerged from immigration. However, brother wasn't speaking to me because I had recently told him that I felt sorry for his partner because IMO, he - the partner - is a sad, angry git . My kids call him the Garden Gnome, because he is a horticulturist, sorry, Campus Manager, who looks like a gnome).

Anyway, nephew, neice and partner were due to arrive about an hour later, so Mitch and I decided to remove ourselves from the less than genial atmosphere by suggesting that bro take the others to their apartment while Mitch and I waited for everyone else.

Mitch and Jess have spent very little time with their cousins - about 10 days almost 20 years ago, and Mitch was in England for about a week when he was about 11 - but if ever anyone doubted that blood is thicker than water, they should observe the cousins when they get together: it is as if they have grown up together. Hmmmmm, of course, my brother and I are the exception that proves the rule

Where was I? Oh yes, wedding attire. Mitch decided that, rather than help Mumsy prepare rice salad, buy the bubbles, etc, etc, he would spend the night with the family and be driven to the wedding by them. Next morning the cousins asked him whether he would be wearing his board shorts. 'What? No way. It's a wedding for %$#*'s sake. I'll be wearing my black jeans'.

Crikey Amy..... what shopping opportunities in Chichester, off all places. In The Times yesterday (Saturday) it was named as the geriatric capital of England......
I shouldn't be cynical! Chichester (although small) is a nice, decent place. Good luck!

well i love chichester ,lots of lovely shops and good high street shops and lots of good pubs! My cousin down from scotland also loved it and started wandering if the hospital needed midwives?
Anyway they have tow amazing wedding dress shops and the dress that is now mine! I can and will particularly recomend Confetti & Lace, fantastic selection and the staff were fantastic...they let me come back in a state of panic to try THE dress on again because there was one in the other shop that had sent me into doubt...alas as soon as the THE dress was near me i realised it was the one and promptly burst into tears again about it!

Gosh, Amy. I am very glad that Chichester is providing you with exactly the Right Dress. Brilliant! I hope that on 'The Day' someone somewhere will take a photo of you and post it into this thread!
All the best (and keep the boxes of tissues handy!)
