What's wrong with white spirit? Or even surgical spirit if you want to be nice to your skin? Who said chemistry wasn't useful in the real world? Would have saved you about 8 minutes. Unless you didn't have any whereupon you may have needed to go to the shop, which may have taken more that 8 minutes. OK, I'll stop now.

Perfume is very good for removing sticky stuff from glass, I expect it works on skin too, or aftershave I s'pose.
