"Inside Mr Enderby" by Anthony Burgess is

Well this post was getting, shall we say, at least a little existential so I thought I'd throw something totally odd in
The quotes are real as is the book I was alluding to
Read it if you want
If you like that you may also like Flann O'Brien's novel "The 3rd Policeman"

Absolutely. What has Descartes got to say about passing wind? Apart from the fact that to do so is a human condition (normally glossed over unless one suffers from schoolchild humour).
I am mesmerised by this thread.

Talking of wind, or STEAM, I recently photographed an author for Faber & Faber publishers called Jenny Uglow for her new book. I looked her up on the net and found she'd written a book on several men who in the late 18th Century pretty much invented the modern world as we know it
They invented or were responsible for discovering steam engines, chemistry, modern pottery and glazes, canals and masses more. I reccomend the book. It is called "The Lunar Men and is published bt Faber
I might start a thread on what books you MUST read before you shuffle off this mortal coil

Did she go to CH, or did her sister go? There was someone in 6's I think called Valerie Uglow.
I think she is on Friends Reunited and even has a picture.

I have no idea where she went to school
What I imagine is that her maiden name was not Uglow as she was married
There is a famous artist called Euan Uglow who died in 2000 who was probably related in some way

Doesn't
Schrodinger's Cat (sp?) have something to miaou (sp) about on this subject: if the subject is read then the perception of it changes so it is no longer the original subject..
Wasn't he the CH school cat ?? Where's Shoz when you need him ?
