HAve all the hymns been reworded or something recently?

The Catholic ones look the same as ever

Many books have done it.
Lots of liturgy has been re-worked too. For instance, prayers to God our Father and Mother.

But back to the topic - I'd love to see the Hertford Grace (as seen in theback of the CH hymn book) in use more widely in random books. I think it's really pretty. A little twee... but lovely all the same.

sorry, WHAT????? I think someone maybe completely missing the point. That's way out and totally outrageous.

Before we know it, there'll be women in the pulpit and gay men as bishops ... But seriously, this is the trouble with the C of E, trying to please everyone and failing dismally (imho).

well they're debatable subjects and I'm not going to discuss them now, but come on, since when has God been a mother??????

Don't be. I was when I first read it. Then I read a whole paper on it (I don't often read high brow theological papers - I think I was bored) and actually it works OK once you start looking at whether the word God has gender or not. I don't really like it because it just doesn't fit in with my conditioning.

But back to school tunes I'd like to hear more of - Mine is the foundation hymn. Definitely. I hate it when my hubby's school chums get together and get boozed (usually after the last night of the proms whilst we're waiting for a cab) and fall into a rousing rendition of "Floreat Sodalitas Pardorum". It's just not the same.

Foundation Hymn sung lustily at St Mylor on last Sunday in August every year (see earlier posting containing words actually used!)

Mrs Plum nearly attacks people if they call her Ms Plum...

Good on her.

I also scream at the telly / radio when people use "myself" in the wrong place or who try to get it right saying "Jimmy and I" when they really mean "Jimmy and me". Thankfully I've managed to bite my tongue enough not to correct people in real life - but it's getting harder.

Please give Ms Plum my regards then.

By the way - talking of church things - what did you reckon to those adverts posted everywhere a few months back that portrayed Jesus as a revolutionary (che guevara type)......

Indeed he was - it's just that I read that a lot of traditionalists got all upset - I thought they were pretty good actually.

Someone always gets upset at something. The baby che/JC posters weren't as good as the grown up che/JC posters.
