Not wishing to wander off-thread again, but just to update you.

Amber attended New East Surrey Hospital today and saw the top ortho surgeon who reckons an operation won't be needed, cast the wrist and will see her again in 6 weeks, so that's good news.

The second bit of good news is that the family, (or Firm, as we are known locally), has put so much pressure on the local police that with the child protection agency, they have agreed to carry out a full investigation. It may be because they know how much local 'influence' might be exacted if they didn't !

No but I did know my father and his two brothers, who shoulder to shoulder at my Grandad's funeral, blocked out the light for the rest of us.
My father, as a copper in Woolwich, knew the Krays and wasn't impressed, but then he was the bad cop in the good cop/bad cop routine.
He got called out to the Commercial Road job on Xmas day, which gave me my first chance to massacre the turkey.

I was a South London child in the early 60s when I did the CH exams - same school as Caroline. I loved it. I'd cry at the end of term!

I'd never have gone to a "rough" school. There were several really good grammar schools in striking distance I'd have carried on being regarded as a bright pupil I think. I feel that the abilities I have would have been recognised. My energies would not have been focussed on survival and self-defence.

But I would have mised out on the originality and eccentricity of CH.

Good news.

My daughter has pretty much fully recovered from her break - just one more check up on 2 Jan. She's using her arm perfectly normally which I am pleased about. She just has a nasty scar from the ops - hopefully that will fade in time.

Re schools - I would have gonr to the grammar school as I passed my 11 plus. No one else in my year did though Mind you - there were only 8 of us

Uniformed have passed the incident to C.I.D. who are seeing daughter and Grand-Daughter tomorrow !

Delighted to hear this JR. The appalling girl bully shouldn't get away with it.
