To be quite honest, I hadn't imagined this to be about cruise liners either (even though I've just translated a film about one).
So for once it's not just JR.
But to return to the evidently intended topic, frankly I'd consider a cruise a fate worse than death, but there's always a chance you'll get taken by pirates, girls.

I used to queue outside the school gates with a girl with a very pompous "important" husband. Cruise holidays were his idea of dignity and status!
One day, he regaled me with a story of the great day when they were invited to dine at the Captain's Table! What they wore, how interested the Captain was in the husband's career, how another Captain's Tabler was a Mayor... I suppose I've giggled a bit at the thought of going on a cruise ever since!
However, cruising sounds a lot more fun and flexible these days, so you've all brought me up to date a bit...

Well... what would appeal rather..shall I admit?
A sort of Educational Cruise - lectures - interesting people -
"Antiquities of the Mediterranean". That sort of thing. If they'd have me.

They certainly do those, with quite famous people lecturing.

this looks like your sort of thing Angela, the words 'elegant but relaxed' jumped out at me.

Given a free choice, the educational/lecture cruise is the sort I'd like to do, but they cost a fortune. So we go completely the other way and do the budget end instead

. The one thing we're not interested in on a holiday is formality, set dinner times and dressing up!

Unless I am mistaken, I believe Chris Simms, an OB novelist, lectures on some cruises.

I enjoyed looking at this, Mary! Very interesting! As Jo points out - expensive -
However, my mind began to buzz a bit. We all became excited at the thought of
pirates... why shouldn't the educational cruise embrace the piratical theme?
Possible lectures?
"From Cabin Boy to Ottoman Corsair - a Memoir"
"Evaluating Your Treasure Chest". ( Fiona might do this well!)
Stowing Away! Successful Crossing of International Boundaries.
Swashbuckling - Sword or Scimitar?
"Walking The Plank". Mr David Eastburn.
And there would have to be a Pirate and Cabingirl Ball!
