And incidentally, I wish you'd chosen another title for this thread - reminds of when I first saw "icomefromalanddownunder"; I can't get the flippin' tune out of my head!

Cheddar Cheese does not seem to be sold in any otherr country ---
I have to send my son, in Switzerland a large chunk for his Birthday in January.
One year, it seems there was adelay in the postal system, and he informed me that it had arrived on its own legs !
He sits alone, in front of the TV munching,----- his Daughters, both English born, and in their 30s, are allowed small tit-bits !
Nothing weird about the Evans Family ! !

To be fair I can buy cheddar here - but only if i am prepared to take out a small bank loan to cover the cost of a tiny packet - I even have the choice between Pilgim's Choice, Cathedral City and something Irish ( can't remember the name at the mo). The same is true of tea and paracetomol! Hence Mum's care packages...
Cadbury's Chocolate is NOT available here* but Fazer is a very good substitute so they get traded back & forth.
Thanks Mum!
*unless I want to schlep(?sp?) all the way to Helsinki & pay another small fortune for a tiny bar!

A friend of mine emigrated to Canada, but apparently the Canadian Cheddar sold there is but a shadow of the variety exported to the UK. So she found herself in the rather odd position, on returning to Canada after her first visit home, of smuggling Canadian Cheddar bought in the UK back into Canada !

It is apparently the custom in Finland not to reveal the name of a newborn child until the baptism. Meanwhile a nickname is used. I am beginning to wonder if when this child finally arrives it should be nicknamed Cheddar!

Our firstborn was Frog, because he jumped around so much. The twins were Fred and Ginger, because he kept still and she danced around him.

Grandchild Number Three, due to Kirri at the end of July, is currently known as Bob, because that it was does during scans. As far as I know, Maria's is just 'The Bump'!

Kirri calls mine Peanut!
and we're thinking Baby is the simplest...
However, Hanna has suggested Upsy Daisy or Iggle Piggle depending on what colour it is!!
I'm happy to stick with Bump for now.
Not sure I agree with the Finnish tradition - Hanna wasn't baptised til about 16 months - that's a long time to go without a name!!

Just a little reminder that Mum is now en route.... as I type she should be about to land in Stockholm for a three hour wait til the flight to Turku.
This is the bit she dreads - hanging around in a busy airport, especially on her own.
Don't forget all your positive thought and prayers for her safe arrival.
Thanks

........... and on the subject of children---- I can't believe our eldest grand-daughter is 18 today !
We will be having a drink together tonight at the Dorking F.C. club-house as Dorking are playing an evening match tonight.
Zara doesn't know it yet, but we've arranged for her to be photographed with the Dorking team, coaching staff and management. She's now playing for Horley Town Ladies FC Reserves.

I dont know what it is about that programme but parents and adults alike become mesmerised by it.
