He is actually a better cook than I am, leftovers included, but his Mum was a MUCH better cook than mine, my Mum's (lack of) culinary skills were even commented on at her funeral.

Here's an extra refinement. He does outside dribbles, I do inside cleansing.

My "rubber gloves don't fit him".

But how could I complain when he cleans the oven and has a Pee Aitch Dee in recycling? And makes a terrific cup of tea?

At the Weekend, we visited Knowle -- near Solihull, for the Naming Ceremony of out latest Grandchild at Wroxall Manor.
about 150 miles there. Super time ,all went very well.
ON THE WAY HOME -- in the middle of a 20 minute traffic jam, single lane, to get on to the A40.----- I am informed "I've forgotton my Handbag !" --- Said Bag contains Money, Glasses , Insulin, Driving Licence, (We share on the journey).
To the A40 round the Roundabout, back to Knowle, provided with a cup of tea, by kindly D. in Law, and off again, this time via A42 to A5, to avoid the Jam !
There was not a lot of conversation !!!
I still love her to bits !!

A couple of months ago we went to Shrewsbury for the weekend. About 40 minutes into the journey home he suddenly started a frenzied scrabbling in his pockets.

"What is it?"

"I think I've left my phone in the hotel room". And he had.

Off at the next exit, back to Shrewsbury, run in to collect phone, repeat journey home. Fortunately we had a friend in the car with us, or the atmosphere would have been very strained. Not me being cross at him, but him being cross with himself, and huffing and puffing all the way home. He does at least have the good manners not to do that in front of other people.

MIne left BOTH phones on his desk last Friday. See FB thread, but if he had left them at home it would have been my fault.

I always blame SWMBO. She has this strange idea that when I'm on the tractor grass cutting on steep hills then the tractor might turn over on me. Therefore she passed one of her replacements to me (she thinks it is too complicated) and put a new Orange card in it. OK so the tractor might turn over but if I'm underneath the phone won't be much use for several reasons
- you have to recharge it every month - Orange seizes the amount left available after 30 days so it is unusable (minimum recharge € 20) and you can't call the emergency services
- if you are trapped you probably can't get at the thing
- it would be out of range of any pylon in any case

Now she blames me if I don't take it with me knowing that the charge only lasts a few hours - useless thing which I can't use anyway.

Give me a slave with a cleft stick - the message might even get to its destination

My better half is quite capable on the domestic front when he puts his mind to it. But on those special occasions when he does put his mind to it, a fanfare is required beforehand and friends and family invited to admire his efforts and provide positive feedback afterwards!!

I generally find it easier just to do things quietly myself. Which I suspect is his ultimate goal.

Be afarid; did you see the Sky news item two days ago where a man was trying to rescue his dog and the attacker - a kangaroo - attacked him sufficiently that he had to be admitted to hospital? I reckon th\azt, instead of ;looking for help Skippy would be looking for the nearest Koolibar (?sp) tree.

Very interesting reading, this thread, from the un-PC man-the-hunter/provider, woman-the-chief-cook/bottle-washer environment still prevalent in Thailand. As a former Fairly Modern Man in the UK, I have to say I haven't found it too difficult to regress...
