I am finishing my degree and will hopefully do my masters after (H2B is doing the same degree and wants to do a post-grad teaching course so will also be staying after uni)
I have to keep it as a secret for the next week or so on Facebook. My family all know as they were consulted first (tradition isn't dead!), but H2B wants to wait till he can go home first)
Please tell me he didn't ask your dad's permission first ???? In the 21st century???

I asked Father, having proposed to TBA, and her Sister said "If it's the manner to which she has been accustomed -- this means being dragged over the Yorkshire Moors in the pouring rain, with wet skirts and frozen hands !"
Some things can scar a child for life !
But that same Sister tramps for miles, over the Scottish and Welsh Mountains, and sometimes beds down at the Summit to watch the Sunset and ALSO the Sunrise -------- fortunately she is un-married !

Since TBA cannot (I hpoe !) ever read this -----
I will be ungallant ---- She is an ex- schoolteacher, aged 69, with a black crash-helmet hairdo, 5ft 11in tall, played hockey Goalkeeper and was Head Girl at Parkstone Grammer, and has never forgiven me for snatching her elder Sister --- I rest my case !
Re Proposals ---- I proposed to Virginia (The 1st Mrs Neill Evans) in a railway carriage, on one knee, shortly after returning from Libya --- My Father had, with great tact, left the carriage, to allow the proposal !
I think we were all much more romantic inthose days

I still got taken out for dinner, although he didn't get down on one knee (not that I mind as it was fairly busy and we are both easily embarassed!)

Am delighted for you anyway, Sally, even if H2B (name?) was unable to get down onto his knees when he popped the question. So glad that you answered in the affirmative!

Sally --- you must try to remember his name --- at least until after the Ceremony !!
My younger (51) son has been with us for the Weekend and TBA remarked to him that when we were first married 34 years ago ---- when I was cross, I would sometimes call her Virginia -------------name of first Wife -
(His Mother)
I'm glad to say that we all had fits of giggles ! ------ but names are dangerous ground .
