Re: Hertford Uniforms
my problem is they are pre-digital, hidden in the bottom/back of a cupboard that I dare not open while the kids are up & about!!! I'll rummage & scan this evening.englishangel wrote:It's a pity our memories of these garments aren't downloadable like memory card, no-one actually seems to have any photos.

Euterpe 13 has a great picture of greys + tartan blouses, marching St Matthews Day 1970.
The greys are just above knee length! Wow.

All these were taken in 1980s - variations between Summer & Winter - also Summer sports wear; the hockey pics I have are very poor quality, sorry.
NB Anna & Viv appear to have swapped their pinny/GA - I would guess Anna was leaving, maybe.

The Sunday best one didn't change from 1970 to 1985 and the merger.

Re: Hertford Uniforms
I had forgotten about the change in coats in my time. When I started the everyday winter coats were some kind of wool, and we also had the same, but newer for Sunday best except the Sixth Form had the Harris Tweed coats. Then we all got Harris Tweeds for Sundays. Later came the marvelous introduction of macs for everyday and the consequent abolition of house brollies - what a change in our lives! DR gave us scarves in House colours to mark her first 25 (?) years in the school.

It must have been 20 years Katharine, she started in 1942.

I especially love the "Winter Jumpers" picture - the eyes say it all.

They should never have abandoned the coatfrocks.

Quite agree! Did you wear them for Summer Sundays before the yellow dresses?

Do you still have the picture of Kirri when she was the littlest in the school and appeared to be wearing nothing but an aertex shirt?

Here goes.... The girl in the Grey, the tennis player and the runner on the left are all Jane Isted; the runner on the right and the middle girl in the window is Alex Berry; also in the window Becci Lewis & Anita Desai; Caiti Steele is holding the sparkler with Lindsay Malyon standing behind her; Fiona Stevens is cuddling a rabbit; Isabel Bird & I are getting confirmed, Lizzie & Bridget Wych are in their cherry reds and Anna Trouter (? smudged!) and Vivienne Bates are hugging outside sixes!mvgrogan wrote:I think I have all the names - I'm not bad at writing them on the back... Didn't find it in yesterday's big rummage but I was focussing on "uniforms" rather than "embarrassing little sisters".Fjgrogan wrote:Do you still have the picture of Kirri when she was the littlest in the school and appeared to be wearing nothing but an aertex shirt?

Can't find the one of you with plaits outside sixes, either, but I'm sure I did have it fairly recently.....
