Many thanks to all of you. Any chemo will only be aimed at shrinking the little b****r, to give me a couple of monthe extra.
Still, at least I have no pain, just lack of breath. Stair lift arriving on Monday will make life a lot easier, and for Joe too.Sorry to have hijacked this thread.

Think positive Maggie: if the chemo can shrink the tumour, it may possibly shrink it out of existence :).

Much love to you and Ann, and echoes of what everyone else has said about the newer chemo treatments that don't have the horrendous side effects of some of the earlier drugs.

Just got this from our Philippines Correspondent.
I am hoping to get it in the next magazine, but space is tight and it deserves an audience.

PHILIPPINES OLD BLUES DAY 2011
Old Blues Day this year was once again celebrated at Avalon in Alaguisoc, on the island of Guimaras, on April 1st. As before, local residents were invited to attend and were entertained on arrival with “Sussex by the Sea” and other delights from the Christ’s Hospital Music CD.
This year’s sporting event was a rugby match but as no local team could be persuaded to participate, the match was held between the Old Blues team, strengthened by a canine quartet of All Blacks, and a banana plantation.
Regrettably, the banana plants showed no consideration for the old age and frailty of our team and from the kick-off resorted to excessively violent tactics which can only be termed as barbaric. The flashpoint was reached in the second half after two of the All Blacks, Jet and Peppone, bit the Bananas’ scrum half who was trying to prevent Chani burying the ball in the coconut grove. In the ensuing disgraceful melee there were a large number of injuries but I’m pleased to report that all of the fatalities were amongst the opposition; the match was eventually abandoned by the referee. Some of the Old Blues claimed that it was necessary to visit the local hospital and didn’t return until mid-afternoon somewhat the worse for wear but well-fed and reeking of non-surgical spirits. They missed out on the locally concocted buffet luncheon which looked an absolute delight on the printed menu but failed dismally to live up to expectations. In fact it was so
bad that even the dogs refused a nibble and the entire spread has been donated for use as roadfill. Our hunger was satisfied with home-made banana sandwiches, some of which were quite badly bruised, and a crate or two of vin rouge ordinaire which was actually green and tasted of guava.
A singing competition was held during the afternoon, open to all-comers. The group contest was won convincingly by our canine contingent, The Abbarigines (trained and conducted by an Old Blue), singing their own version of “Thank You for the Music” and lead singer Cilla also won the solo contest with a faultless performance of “Anyone Who Had a Heart“. We received several complaints from losing contestants claiming that dogs should not be allowed to enter singing competitions but after watching one episode of “American Idol” all complaints were withdrawn.
The committee have announced that next year’s sporting event will be either golf or clay pigeon shooting and all visitors are requested to bring their own packed lunch with a bottle or two of French red. Entertainment will be provided by the Abbarigines who have already begun rehearsals of Hymn 555.
