We recieve EMA on this basis:

We attend every lesson and active
We are not late for a lesson more than twice a week in any one subject.
We are doing AS-A2 levels.

per week if your parents earn:
£19k or below - £30
£25k or below - £20
£32k or below - £10

i myself recieve £30 and its useful for everything, namely because it provides what my parents would otherwise have to fork out for.

30 quid a week should cover some smokes and some cheap booze, anyway.

£30 a week to do A-levels???? FFS! Why not reduce the need for University debt.

If people can't be bothered to study then they should be happy with their job in Tesco/MaccieD's/brickyard.

I`m sure that there are ways of getting the allowance when not entitled to it - just as some parents seem to be able to avoid paying school fees. Unfortunately, perhaps, for my daughters, we can`t "play the system".

I remember being very fed up when I found that kids now get paid to go to school *sigh*

Oh well, back on topic...

I do not disagree with the sheer ridiculousness of the Gov. paying us to attend school. It is a bribe, and yes it is merely to 'up our education quotient', so the govt. isnt lumbered with excessive problems when the current baby boomers and their children reach retirement. There is of course a current downward trend in the number of children being had, and the dependants ratio is worsening.

Perhaps the Govt hope that we will provide.

I suspect that benefits and the dole tantalise the masses to a greater degree than a real job.

Whilst we receive money, it is not a particularly well thought out idea. I suspect we would be perfectly well off without it. Getting into uni would be easier.

Grecians houses are alive and well, surprisingly. It is the 2001-present refurbs of the Av houses that are already suffering, especially (bizarrely) Peele.

The fire regulations are the primary cause of this mess, as they are extortionate in price and weight; they pull out of the hinges due to their sheer mass!

The 'paint' finish is also wearing - it should have been glossed or matted over, but they left it with what appears to be merely a primer!

Grecians West is fine, although my view at the top of the house is impeded by a fellow students window, about 12 feet away
