Has anyone looked at the website - and the recipes yet? and if you want to send me your recipe book I will type it up, plonk it on the website - and here's a thought - if we all pick a favourite 3, we could make a book of recipes and sell it and raise money to pay for this forum for a couple of months? Any help? P L E A S E? Vonny - if you want to mail your books to me by snail mail, I will take great care of them, and return them to you- ditto for anyone else - just send me either an email or pm and I will pass on my address in deepest darkest Cotswolds! Isn't that the way? My daughter is a wonderful sharer - especially with her bugs - she carries some and gets infected with others, and as I have little to no immune system I get everything, then she get's it modifies it and passes it back - I have a week ill week ok week ill week ok system - it makes me look like a major hypochondriac as I am either renewing prescriptions, getting new ones, getting advice, upping my own drugs to sort out the asthma etc... I guess I'm the reason the NHS is down the drain!!Vonny wrote:Will sort something out soon - been ill this past week and felt like cr#p & now the kids have itJude wrote:P L E A S E? I've just had a look in my kitchen cupboard and found my first Miss Jukes cookery book. Now I know I have 3 of these but I couldn't find the other two - they may still be unpacked in a box in the garage (we moved in March 2005

The Bonfanti twins
This is the first time I've really visited the site and was startled to see a reference to me (Su) and my twin (Ann) earlier on in this thread.
I was in 5s 67-73 and Ann was in 6s 67-71. She got thrown out in the Upper 5th for a multitude of sins, culminating in going up to London on her own - and without permission of course - to see the Rolling Stones one Saturday. And no-one told me what was going on!!
One day in the middle of the week I was summoned to see the head (and weird though it is I can't remember whether it was still DR or Miss Tucker) who said that my parents were there. This was extraordinary enough as they had been divorced for 5 or 6 years and I hadn't seen them together in all that time. So I asked why they were there and then it dawned on her that I didn't know. So, highly embarrassed, she had to explain that she had expelled my sister, that my parents had come to take her away and that she had not thought to tell me anything about all this before.
I was allowed to go out to lunch with them and then I stood at the gate as they went off together with Ann to take her back to London. All highly symbolic!
We survived. We had our 50th 2 weeks ago and Ann came over from Canada, where she lives now, for a big party.
I should be going to bed especially as DH arrives back from Africa at 7.30am tomorrow morning. But can't resist a further trawl through the Hertford threads.

Welcome to the Forum
That would have been DR Su, she retired in the summer of 72.
I vaguely remember you and Ann but I bet Alex remembers, she was in 6's with Ann.
It must have been very difficult for you suddenly being cut off from your sister like that. And you must have been furious that she went to the Stones without you.
My husband is an identical twin and we had a terrible time with the jealousy of his brother when we first got together. I also have boy/girl twins (now 17) and if one is away for a week or so the other really misses him/her. They are better friends now than they were when younger.

Re: The Bonfanti twins
I didn't start at CH until 1974 but the story of the Rolling Stones trip was still being passed down! I seem to remember being told that a group had gone and found a route out through the catacombes (underground passages joining the school buildings), though I guess the story may have been distorted and I'm not even sure the catacombes existed as my friends and I never found them!su523 wrote:I was in 5s 67-73 and Ann was in 6s 67-71. The gate was kept locked in my time - but I knew where the key was, can't remember where it was or how I found out. Will have to dig into memory now!!englishangel wrote:you only had to walk out of the back gate to the station there was no need to use any (non-existent) catacombs/tunnels.

I remember the gate being locked, except beginning/end of term and sometimes Long Sats. However, it was easy to get over the jamb on the left side as there was no glass there and a sort of leg-up on each side ( no, of course I never tried it, someone else told me about it...).
You could also get out through a space in the railings, behind the bushes at the back of the rabbit hutches...
